| didn't Chuck come on and stick up for fissile's comments recently? he probably isn't reading all he says. I don't have a clue what's happening and anything I say is speculation so I just sort of take Fissile in the same way, although (s)he does come across like in some secret loop or something. The there nearly was an album but Kim pumped on it half way through theory is the one that makes most sense to me right now. Maybe she is scared of sheep, or the leek soup didn't agree with her bowels or something.. |

I'm curious about the legal ramifications to this. Could Kim block any future use of the Pixies brand now that she is out? Sort of a Gilmour/Waters type of situation?
do we know specifically where the message came from? i'm honestly asking. i assumed it came from the Kim camp

Seems pretty obvious the statement didnt come from Kim, or it would say something like " Kim wishes the remaining members all the best going forward".

| The Pixies became a parody, effectively a covers band playing the same set over and over with their last two albums barely getting a mention the three times I saw them on the endless reunion tour. It makes sense for the other three to move on and make more Pixies albums. It won't be the same blah blah but they need to release new music if they are going to continue. Kim was blocking the release of new music, remove the blockage and release the new albums. |

| Fuck yeah, and Charles has already toured with Ding Wotsizname who also used to play with Polly. edit- Ding Archer? I can never remember the name of his band who toured on the svn fngrs tour- Pere Ubu or something, the character thingummy played in that film, you know the one directed by that guy that did Twin Peaks or something... |

I think Suzi Horn from Prinzhorn Dance School has a lovely voice and would be the perfect choice, and she plays bass. It would of course mean no more albums from PDS though, who are an amazing band. Their last album is so good and borrows a LOT like the Pixies. Minimal art punk kind of thing, very good bass lines. I doubt an new actual Pixies album could touch it. This is probably my favourite ever pixiesesque band and album of all time.

i'm guessing that for any prospective new album all the band members came together and renegotiated (or tried to renegotiate) a new contract. including all of the details about what can be played where, how much everyone makes etc etc.. you really think they would all jump into the same contract they made in 1988? .
you seem to pretend that you know the inner workings of whatever agreement or contractual details came about (or almost came about) for this album (which is also speculation). i just find is silly is all. also, you start every sentence with "i think" which is an annoying essay writing device used by 9th graders

Yeah I thought of Ding Archer once I read that Louder Than War article. No idea if he's English but he's played with the Fall and PJ Harvey so I'm just assuming.

Yeah that's it Bobby Peru! It's one of those things you get where you try to think of something all the time and your brain keeps thinking of something nearly like it, like your neural networks get knotted somewhere or something I'm not a neuroscientist..
I remember them live, they were good! That was a shit hot band he had there, Ding, Jason and Charles Normal. He should have done more with that lot. |

Read page 254. He states that he's not willing to negotiate new terms for the band. That's what's been the hangup all along.

We are living such an exciting period where everything seems possible. Maybe the band is reading this thread right now in order to take their decisions.
So just in case, my vote goes for Kazu Makino as Kim's replacement for backing vocals, lead vocals and dance (unfortunately she doesn't play bass, only rythm guitar).

But, more than that, the (MUSICALLY) immature fantasizing that if FB just puts out something new and labels it "The Pixies" that it will magically.......majestically......really... become "the Pixies". haha. Finally, they re-formed and from 2004 to 2011 (SEVEN FREAKING YEARS!)all he cared about was becoming an oldies touring band, without putting out anything new? Like we really needed that. The 'Pixies' became the Beach boys. They toured their $$$$$$ hits for 2 years longer! than they were originally vibrant.

| I don't see much Kim hate on this board. Perhaps one or two posters veer close to the edge but they are a tiny minority. I love Kim, but I love FB more (hint: the clue is in the name of the forum). Kim's left the band and she doesn't have veto on what the other three do together. As somebody said earlier all I care about is new FB music. I'm excited that it might be with Joey and David but fundamentally I don't care who it is with as long as it's coming. |

| Well, this a bit of a shocker, there's been strong hints of a new album and pic of Kim with the band in Wales... if they actually recorded something for release sometime next year as some have suggested, perhaps she'll make a surprize return for live shows. All random speculation, I know. |

Frank has said for YEARS that he'd love to record new music with the Pixies. I never argue with peoples' opinions (there's no point to it, it's a waste of time), but the above is just plain factually wrong.
A diligent Google search will bring up at least a dozen interviews where Frank talks about how he'd like to make a new Pixies album. Also, doesn't he talk about this in LOUDquietLoud? (The scene where he mentions that he's been playing his new stuff for the band just to remind them that he's ready to write new songs for them when they're up for it.)
Meanwhile, Kim's opposition to a new Pixies album is well-documented. |

I think you're setting up a false conflict here. Now, I don't know what's going on elsewhere on the internet, but here I see little hate for Kim Deal here.
I like Kim Deal. I think she's written some great songs and made some great records. And I've never held the lack of a new Pixies record against her (because I've never had a strong opinion about whether or not the Pixies should make new music--I enjoy Black Francis's solo stuff enough.)
If there IS a conflict (this thread is a little light on the "fighting", if you ask me), I think it's not "people who hate Kim Deal" vs. "people who love Kim Deal".
Rather, I think the conflict is "People who regard the Pixies as a sacred thing" vs. "People who don't regard the Pixies as a sacred thing".
Me, I'm firmly in the latter camp. I just want to hear Frank's new songs, whether it has "Black Francis" on the spine or "Pixies" or some other band name ("Frank, Joey, and Dave have decided to form a new band called The Stinky Fuckfaces!"--I'd buy it). |

| Simibby---my understanding from interviews is that Frank wanted to record new music and Kim was the one who was putting a stop to that. For me, its not the Pixies without Kim. At the same time, I'm sure Joey and Dave would love to play new songs with Frank as well as older Pixies tunes; why should they be denied that joy? |
