I kind of think that Catholics were on a downturn when they disbanded.. SMYT was a weak offering in my opinion. BLD would have been better if shorter. I dunno... I find it hard to criticize the man as he is obviously a genius, but it seems like each album these days is getting weaker.. Paley and Francis is a struggle to listen to imo.

Sacrilege, Clopser! SMYT is a work of (near) genius. Your judgement has clearly been impaired by your inveterate placing of your ringpiece on the noses of others. As for Paley & Francis, I think it is quite an easy listen, but unfortunately not that demanding either. Kind of middling - a bit like your clopsing technique.

I think you're off base with the Violet comments however, and they are a little rude considering the man himself reads this blog.
I'm jumping in here a little late, but I just wanted to remind you that this is a fan board. The OP (and anyone else for that matter) should be able to write their opinions about FB and his music without feeling the need to appease the man.
And might I remind you that I too am allowed to write my opinion, which I did. Might I also remind you that I did not in any way suggest that the OP's opinion was without merit, only that I disagreed and thought the Yoko comparison was a little harsh. I can voice my opinions without feeling the need to appease your particular sensibilities. Similar to the Grammer Police, many people insist on seeking opportunities to explain to others, often strangers, the apparently complex and subtle concept of opinions.

In my homeland we have expression "rugala se šerpa loncu, a i ona garava" which in English mean (I try best translate) "a pot that call kettle black". I not know how to best explain. It when someone say one thing to mean something but make self sound like have mental handicap |

Onyone. You did not post an opinion. You posted an insult. You did not post in English, therefore it did not require a grammatical correction. You called me out and insulted me and expected to get away with it. You are a troll, and congratulations sir - here I am, taking the bait. I would bet the farm that you are a hipster of some sort pretending to be from Yugoslavia. Your phrasing is too obvious. I have had many a wonderful conversation on these boards until you showed up. If I want to have a troll argument I'll go over to foxnews.com which I assume is where you've been for the last couple of weeks. I'm out of here indefinitely. This used to be a decent board.
In my homeland, we also have a good ole homespun turn of phrase. It starts with an F and ends with a U.

In my opinion, what is lacking is a good "acoustic/lead guitar band" as the Catholics were. I am not a big fan of only one rhythm guitar plus bass guitar songs. I absolutely love FB's song "Do what you want Gyaneshwar", especially the YouTube-Version. The acoustic guitar playing is so excellent. I whish FB would write more songs like these. The Christmas album is just magic :-)
My favourite FB songs since 2005 are:
In the time of my ruin It's just not your moment Do what you want Guyineshwar Don't get me wrong Blizard 1989 Stars (from Golem) - absolutely brilliant song!
I wonder, why these great songs are not mentioned by others very often...

Whatever bro. I'm on this site for the same reason. I've never had a tiff with anyone around here until you. You can't call someone out and expect them not to respond. Given the content of your first message, I think commenting on your english was totally warranted. And not once have I told anyone what to say. Not one single time. Not even close. Read my comments again if you don't believe me. Not once.

i'm probably another uber-fan, i used to get all the cd varients, rarities etc etc i havent really been impressed much since SMYT - which was a great album where the songs performed live on tour were great. The mixture of lyrics with the music on the catholics songs were great in most part, I adjusted my musical taste like others have said from DITS onwards with the country rock edge coming in. The songs performed live with the catholics live were great as you didnt know on the songs if Rich would jump on the keyboard, lead guitar or pedal steel, like Dave Phillips either on lead or pedal steel, mixing the songs up just slighly with the slight variation in instruments. Honeycomb and FM/RM just went too country and... just didnt connect with me at all, despite multiple listens. The new tracks on Christmass i really enjoyed, Bluefinger was good on the first few listens but i kinda went off it. I have heard tracks from SVNfingers and NSE but it didnt really appeal.... Havent tried Golem. Quite enjoyed 1st Grand Duchy album but ... still a bit lacking really.
I hope theres a turnaround soon, i remember buying Teenager, COR, FB&TC, etc on the day of release and playing them on repeat, its just a shame that FB has had a lull really, hopefully some new inspiration will happen soon.
---------- I joined the Cult of the Catholics, Oh when will they return ? |

Yeah, anyone put off by the Honeycomb/FM-RM stuff (in many places too non-rock, or just plain dire); or the outright ROCK of Bluefinger (great, but too samey to listen to in one go after a while); Seven Fingers (mostly good, but... not a classic); or NSE (half-good, but... ), at least check out The Golem. It really is excellent -- a GENUINE highlight of Frank's career if you ask me; a diamond in the recent rough!
