Doolittle calls TOTY a douche bag and stands smuggily satisfied with its cleverness, but the other albums just lower their estimates of Doolittle. |

Doolittle and TOTY have crashed on the island of Lost. Doolittle is building wooden houses and making fires, and hunting down boar and stuff, whereas TOTY is freaking out about the whole thing and crying for it's mommy.

unlikely- but it that were to happen it would be total strategy (like ben linus manipulation) as TOTY is way smarter than doolittle

shiney- didn't get your vote. and don't be intimidated by the toughness of TOTY fans...feel free to vote for doolittle if you think it is better...this board welcomes all opinions even if they are incorrect....and i should add that doolittle is pretty tough too with songs about slashing up eyeballs...just not as tough as stuff like bad wicked world..

I don't resent Doolittle. I resent pot's lack of manners (i.e. insisting that someone give up the sources of their information and then calling that person a liar when they won't violate the promise that they made to their source). |

I have had the pleasure of meeting Brian in person (he didn't show me around nyc like he did with floop but I'm not jealous or anything... I'm not. really I'm not) and I'd trust him when it comes to matters relating to this site.
I vote TOTY

I didn't insist that he give up his source, all I said was that I found it hard to swallow.
This about the fifth time I've been accused of calling Brian a liar and it's getting quite boring now, so why don't you just drop it. You're all acting like fucking children.
All this bullshit slandering is starting to make me feel like a politician.

What I was implying there, was that perhaps Brian, or his source were deliberately putting out false information so as not to generate any high expectations of anything for whatever reason I don't know. It's not unknown for bands to do this kind of thing. It was just me speculating. Maybe it's all another Pixies publicity stunt gone badly wrong. Who even cares?
The point is I was not calling anyone a liar. The secret to understand what the hell I'm on about is deeply encoded within the subtlety of language and communication, something I can see you have a bit of difficulty in grasping.

Ok, so somewhere in your subtle world of language "deliberately putting out false information" does not equal lying?
I understand. You have trouble being held accountable for your words and think you can wiggle your way out of it by trying to imply that you're operating on higher plane intellect and discourse. |

Actually what I said was quite easy to interpret. If you didn't get it though, then you didn't get it. What the fuck do you want me to do about it?
Please be sure to let me know when my trial has finally been concluded, I'm not that bothered what the verdict is, I just want to know when all this is over.

Jeez. Is this what this forum has come to? There's barely anyone left as it is, Brian. Your thinly veiled posts telling people to fuck off if they don't think exactly like you a pretty huge turnoff. If you don't want to do this anymore, then just leave yourself. You really sound like an asshole these days.

Another satisfied customer!
Look, i rarely express my personal opinions on this site. I try and be professional, and occasionally, when i can, provide some insight from my years of hardcore nerdery and unbelievably lucky access to inside information based on my volunteering here for the past 5 years.
This all "started" because i was trying to be a nice guy and share a little info that i was asked to keep to myself. Instead of divulging what i knew, i tried to skew it so that i could share some of the more basic aspects of it to whet the appetite of the fellow fans - who i clearly think highly of, as i spend a good chunk of my free time working on the podcast, moderating this site, and trying to make as many connections as i can for the podcast and the site to continue to make this place the best Frank Black related website online. (Dean works just as hard, if not harder, doing the same)
That post turned hostile, and i decided at some point to just back away.
However - then i started reading this thread based on a perfectly reasonable question - which album do you prefer? I felt pot's answer was a bit dismissive of something we all clearly love - the solo music of FB. So i responded to it, which is fair for me to do. I threw in the Pixiesmusic thing as a joke - their site, in my totally 100% biased opinion, doesn't hold a candle to ours in terms of fan interaction. After pot took offense to my comment, well, i decided to keep going. Maybe i shouldn't have - but i did. Oh well.
I never told anyone to "fuck off," nor would i have felt vindicated had pot actually left the site. But i do think my general thesis in my second post was fair - if you're going to make big statements, be prepared to defend them - not just to react in a shocked, offended way when someone decides to address the subject with subtlety and tact.
If you're not happy, Jefrey (with one f, Jefrey), with the way i conduct myself, oh well. No offense, but i think the majority of the people here don't give a fuck how i post, if i post, or if i happen to have a deep love for mid-70s Aerosmith (which i do), and i don't give a fuck how they post, as long as they're not jerks about it and/or spam our board. But there are literally dozens of examples of people reacting strongly on this board - calling people all sorts of names and making all sorts of threats, and if you ranked them from least-offensive to offensive, anything i've ever said on this forum would be in the lower quarter of that scale. And if you argue that my status as an administrator should cause me to pause when and if i'm going to flame someone (which again, i would argue i did not do here), well then i agree with you. But sometimes i've gotta show some sort of personality or emotion here, or else i'd just be boring, like Dean.
(kidding, Deaner)

I did actually leave the site following what you said Brian, or I was intending to anyway. As a general rule I don't tend to hang around places if I am getting flamed by all and sundry, and certainly not by the admin. But some of the other members stepped in and talked me out of it, so here I still am!
Look, things get said on the internet, and we all don't really know who we are talking to most of the time and things get taken the wrong way sometimes. I think we are probably both guilty of that in this instance, so no hard feelings, eh.
You guys are the sole reason I am now a fan of FB's solo work, because I really didn't pay any attention to any of his stuff after the pixies split. This was largely because I didn't have money to buy any of his albums, nor did I have any friends who owned any of his records, and I also lived in a world where mp3's hadn't yet been invented. But through your free podcast on iTunes I ended up being exposed to some of his solo stuff and buying practically all of his albums on iTunes. That's down to you and Dean.
I'm glad we got this sorted out, we can all put our handbags away now.
And to get things back on topic, I'd like to add here that Doolittle is a 38 minute long drunken stupor following my latest binge drinking session, and TOTY is the terrible hangover I am currently experiencing. I'm trying to help you guys here, it's not your fault that you have inferior musical tastes.

Opinions are opinions, but openly trashing FB's solo career is not a very popular sentiment in these parts...
Pixiesmusic.com has a great message board.

yes we do, thank you.
doolittle is my vote, but ive been listening to TOTY nonstop for the last week. My fav solo album of his.
I still don't get the whole need for a competition though... arent they both classics written by the same artist? Do we want or need to see sibling rivalry? |
