Apparently it's a Doolittle anniversary and it's going to be the whole album PLUS related B-sides. If that really means Bailey's Walk, Weird at my school or even Santo then I might well ending up shelling out £90 on E-Bay.
quote: Pixies have announced details of a European tour for October that includes shows in London, Dublin and Glasgow.
Frank Black and co will play two nights at the Dublin Olympia, four at the O2 Academy Brixton in London and one at the Glasgow SECC.
The gig run will be named the 'Doolittle' tour to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of that album.
Pixies will play all the songs that feature on the album and its related b-sides at the shows.
The band are set to release a new career-spanning box set, 'Minotaur', in September. They played an impromptu live gig in London earlier this month at an exhibition of the set's artwork.
Pixies will play:
Dublin Olympia (October 1, 2) Glasgow SECC (4) O2 Academy Brixton (6, 7, 8, 9) Frankfurt Jahrhunderhalle (11) Amsterdam Heineken Music Hall (13) Brussels Forest National (14) Paris Zenith (15)
Tickets go on sale at 9am (BST) on Friday (July 3).

Very glad to hear it. It'd be really cool if they played it in order. |

I'm not too happy about the doolittle thing, I'd prefer a selection of tracks from each of the albums.
Have they got something against playing stuff of the last two albums or something?
I'm sure there'll be an encore with a short selection of favourites. I expect Where Is My Mind? will get played in that, maybe Motorway to Roswell I dunno...
Anyone know how much the tickets are going to cost?
Anyone know what the best ticket supplier is to buy from? I've tried to get tickets for gigs like this and it's just a telephone/internet hit lottery that lasts about 5 minutes and usually ends in disappointment.

I suppose it's hard to call. Sets tend to last for 27 songs or so... Still room for a bunch more. Wouldn't be surprised for Velouria, Cecilia Ann and Dig for Fire to make a return, seeing as they're in the mix now |

Yeah, but it's typical for any band doing these things to play the full album and then do a bunch of extra songs. Even with b sides, Doolittle wouldn't last for an hour and a half! |

Even Silver? I love it! I read that TMBG did this with Flood and I actually saw the Go-Go's do this a few years ago with Beauty and the Beat. After the album set was done they threw in a bunch of other songs from their catalog. |

I saw Brian Wilson do his "Smile" album too a few years ago. He did 3 sets. 1st-fan faves/2nd-Smile/3rd more hits. It was great. As for Pixies, it'll be great if they roll out all those Doolittle era B-sides like Manta Ray and Baily's Walk. |

Once again, does anyone know what the best online/phoneline ticket provider is for getting a hold of tickets?
The ones I've tried haven't yielded any results, and a lot of them are pulling scams themselves to rip fans off.
Is anyone on here interested in forming a syndicate? By that I mean we all try our damnedest to get our hands on as many tickets as possible, and whoever fails to get a ticket can buy one off someone who has a spare for face value via ebay or something?

I did a search for Pixies and they only seem to have the Brixton gigs listed at the moment.

Is Make Believe a Doolittle song? I hope so, I love that track, and Dave sings on it too, so that'll prove interesting.

Velouria is off Bossanova though, so I don't think they'll be playing that.

Now, to hear 'Bossanova' played in full... that'd be a lot more special! Doolittle's pretty much been played, save for two songs! |

I can't wait for the shows, and I'm wary of sounding too fanboyish and not grateful for anything, but I don't like the way that, in recent years it seems, that 'Doolittle' is regarded as the peak, and that the following records are somehow disappointing. I've had people lecture me that 'Kim wasn't allowed to write any of the songs' and other revisionism, and there's that idiot in the Gouge documentary who infamously says "it's not cool to like those albums... if you're a real fan!".
