trying to keep up with the new music can be very confusing!

it's always nice to go back to the old school.

Quite liking this new Yacht album, so I am.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itZ8d-1BN8o

check out some of their live footage they are quite an energetic band, they are quite a tight band, good bassist. In terms of the genre it's nothing new, but it always sounds good and I think this album is quite varied and interesting.

For example-ish

yes. YACHT. saw them live a couple months back. they have a hellfire and brimstone/televangelist angle they play on that is very intriguing to me, having grown up in a pentacostal setting. much love for this YACHT.

Digging the new Big Talk album.

My three favourite tracks-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfoLY3F1lb4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWjEXBXE6no

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUv1DtE7Lz0&feature=related

Girl at Sunrise + A fine time to need me are two other good songs from the album, but I can't find any youtus for them. They are less 80's rock pop and more country rock. Instantly accessible toe-tapping music, but what's wrong with that.

And it's the drummer from The Killers I just found out.

Comet Gain. Indie band from London. New album out called Howl of the lonely crowd is pretty good. I love this older track though, it's filthy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L36PwFX6U8U

Same song live, good sound but you can't really hear the guitar sound so well in this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qDYLruUcvI

This one is more experimental.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sCtwaD9hrk

And the excellent first track from the new album.

Jens Lekman. Just listened to his second full album. Most of the songs are melancholic but the music is usually bursting to the seams with joy. Some of the lyrics are top notch too, both tender and hilarious.

Listening to Under The Sun by Gordon Gano & The Ryans quite a bit. It's pretty good, I can hear a Frank Black influence in 'Red' especially with the loud speaker. 'Way That I Creep', 'Oholah Oholibah' and 'Wave and Water' are all great tracks that stand up well to the Violent Femmes oeuvre.

Just checking out the new album from Blitzen Trapper on 3voor12, reminds me a lot of the Skynyrd. Great stuff!

Blitzen Trapper | Fletcher - YouTube

Can I be a tad controversial and say- I think these guys are better than The Catholics?

Live recording from Pickathon in 2009, fucking awesome I'm putting these down on my list of bands to go see live one day..

I can't remember if this is supposed to be for new music or music, period. Because lately I've been all about vintage Neil Young.

I remember sitting in a basement listening to Fields of Marigold until I passed out.

pot! blitzen trapper's great! been listening to that new one a lot. i miss some of the variety that the previous albums had, and miss the mysticism type shit from the last album, but there's plenty of room for straight up american rock n roll. definitely dig the slow songs on that one (taking it easy too long).

also been digging new Washed Out and Memory Tapes. the former reminds me of early 90s Sting (i like it) and the latter has some sweet Fancey vibes.

new Bees is real good. new Fruit Bats.

I know I'm incredibly late to the party on this one, but I've just discovered Modest Mouse's "Good News for People Who Love Bad News." Somehow I'd avoided listening to Modest Mouse until just recently.

Denis, is it just me or do these guys sound a lot like Daniel Johnston?

Marnie Stern's self titled third album. I have started here but will definitely get the first two at some point. I have been listening to her on Myspace for a while but never got round to buying an album. Glad I took the plunge.

Oh and hey everybody, nice to see some familiar names still here. It's like slipping on a favourite old coat; warm, comfortable, familiar and hopefully I'll find a fiver in a pocket.

Going through a rare west side hip hop phase at the moment. Nothing like this has ever happened to me since I got into Kool Keith many years ago(east side I know). I saw him play in Nijmegen in 2005, he signed my hash bag at the end of the gig and punched my fist, yo.

Enjoying the new album 'The Crux' from Killed by 9V batteries, they sound kinda like Pavement and Sonic Youth. Lead vocalist sounds very similar to Malkmus, screaming guitars and wishy washy female backing vocals, the perfect combination.
