i'm getting a new skateboard with all the money i get from my separation agreement, and i'm gonna ride it at the bowls and pick up younger women to spite my soon to be ex.

air's all i need comes to mind, was that an actress?
is wearing protection considered too you know what or do they really have steel wrists? i know i'd be more confident in executing any stunts and less chance of screwing up, with pads on. </girly rollerblader> |

there's no shame in wearing pads if you're skating pools or a half pipe, but wearing pads while street skating would be kind of.. what's the word for it? |

this is the one i got.
i've only been able to take it out once. it rained the other two days i had off and i had appointments on the two sunny days. i'm going to penticton sunday to wednesday, i don't know when i can shred! fuck. i like it, but i think i might need to get a board a little thinner for street riding, we'll see.

i don't think that's too big for street skating. unless you're trying to do all kind of flip tricks. seems like overall boards are starting to get bigger again.. more kids are riding boards that are 8 and up..
whatever you're comfotable with |

i like flip tricks. i used to have a freestyle per welinder back in the day when the freestyle boards were like 6" x 28" or so. i had this one:
the pink version without the hieroglyphics is apparently super rare.

That's a pretty amazing story floop. Heartening and heartbreaking. You gotta feel so sorry for those kids. All they want is a fair chance of freedom which they ain't gonna get in that country.

the slap (magazine) message board is having a hiaku contest where the winner (top 5 winners) get a signed John Cardiel deck. please go and vote for your favorite one..
if it happens to be mine (#14) then that's fantastic. i don't want to influence your vote though..

it's a sad story for sure. makes me feel sorry for those kids (especially the girls who won't be able to skate or have fun when they reach puberty).. but it's inspiring. seems like it's a positive influence for them all. i'm definitely going to donate some dinero |

i signed up but they haven't sent me a confirmation e-mail so i can't vote. i figure number 8 will get one of the 5 decks, you should too! honestly, i think most of those poems were more counting out syllables than thinking up something poetic. the line i posted above is the best line in all 14, my opinion.

if i was your editor, i would have suggested something like "LIKE THUNDER ROLLING" as the last line or something, y'know, to tie together the wheels/rolling, rolling/thunder, thunder/lightning feel you got going. i like the cracking concrete too. we should have a frank haiku contest. could be interesting.

i agree, and i like your suggestion. the last line i was not satisfied with.. i was proud that i threw in a subtle reference to his wheel sponsor though (spitfire).. i wanted to try and throw in some eagle imagery, since that's the logo of his long-time sponsor anti-hero.. anyway, i'm in 4th place right now.. stooooaked. thanks for the props
this is the only thread i'm going to post in from now on. |
