Heh. Those guys were all pretty good. The waters were really quite violent but they all stood up. We watched em for about 20 minutes but then all of a sudden it got very boring and we headed off.

floop, not bad for a decrepit convalescent. Why'd you need surgery? Like after a fall?

it's dangerous to have girls at skateparks http://www.sciencealert.com.au/news/20100303-20669.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencealert-latestnews+

i said it was related

there was a clip somewhere of this guy against a longboard skater and the skater with his higher centre of gravity lost control in one tight corner.
shineoftheever Posted - 12/06/2009 : 17:29:21
that's fucking retarded. i bet he ran into that motorbike/scooter the first time and had to talk them into letting them film a "pass" scene. i hope he gets hit by an oncoming semi one day...

I stopped skating by 1990.

one of the many reasons I have for sucking (not skating) now

but nice video floop. I'm glad you keep the topic current
floop Posted - 10/03/2009 : 10:33:38
anyone who skated in the 90's would find this Matt Hensley tribute video entertaining (new crop of skaters doing his old tricks, some at the same spots, dressed like him)

i skated with some french guys yesterday who were travelling across the US for 3 months and skating all the parks. they started in NY, headed to Portland and are now making their way down south and then back over to the East Coast through the Southwest. sounds like a perfect trip. they were actually really cool guys . who would have thought?
floop Posted - 08/17/2009 : 11:45:00
yeah, they asked me about shoes and shirt size

that would be kind of a crappy gift -- "the good news is you're going to get a free pair of shoes, the bad news is they're not your size"
shineoftheever Posted - 08/17/2009 : 11:26:54
nice. did you specify your shoe size. or did they just send you what they had?

i agree, and i like your suggestion. the last line i was not satisfied with.. i was proud that i threw in a subtle reference to his wheel sponsor though (spitfire).. i wanted to try and throw in some eagle imagery, since that's the logo of his long-time sponsor anti-hero..
anyway, i'm in 4th place right now.. stooooaked. thanks for the props

this is the only thread i'm going to post in from now on.
shineoftheever Posted - 07/27/2009 : 18:39:28
if i was your editor, i would have suggested something like "LIKE THUNDER ROLLING" as the last line or something, y'know, to tie together the wheels/rolling, rolling/thunder, thunder/lightning feel you got going. i like the cracking concrete too. we should have a frank haiku contest. could be interesting.

i signed up but they haven't sent me a confirmation e-mail so i can't vote. i figure number 8 will get one of the 5 decks, you should too! honestly, i think most of those poems were more counting out syllables than thinking up something poetic. the line i posted above is the best line in all 14, my opinion.
