I'm happy for ya floop; it's great to have a positive interaction with someone whose work has had such an impact on your life.

I don't think I've seen any of his movies. What's a good one to start with?

Recently watched La Moustache. It was alright. Actually, I quite liked it up until the last fifteen or so minutes. I knew what the film was about but it would've been interesting to have known nothing about it.

Saw two movies today with formidable Changs in them; Master Chang in the movie Wrong and the Chang in Only God Forgives. They were both very good at righting wrongs, like of the missing dog or grusome sex murder kind. They were good back to back.

I watched THE BIRDS yesterday again. Still as good as ever. The scene where the birds gather in front of the school is perfect.

OGF was also super-stylish. I think i liked Drive better. I feel there could have been more to the resolution in this one (same direction, but a little more oomph) y'know what i'm saying?

More oomph? Do you mean something to take your mind off the movie?

tough to answer without spoiling it. but no, that's not what i mean at all. ask yourself this "how much were the two main characters changed by the events in the movie?"

Watching Kon-Tiki tonight. Always find the prospect of a movie a little bit more exciting if it's a story I'm already familiar with through b/w photography. It's a bit like being a kid again.

That does look interesting, although whoever casts Scarlett Johansson as the lead but only as a voice deserves to have their ass kicked.

North By Northwest, again. still fun to watch, though not as much as once, but worth it if only for those shots of the main character surrounded by nothing but prairie land.
didn't notice Grant's lisp before. which means things like that aren't as noticeable as people would think. or that i'm a poor observer.
was at times bothered by what seems like clumsy editing, like when we see Grant's face, then a shot of some surprising element coming into view, cue again Grant's face which only after a couple of long seconds reacts with a worrying grimace, as if the signal from his retina to his brain makes a stopover at the other corner of the universe first.

also saw two films with post-terror attack subject, made some years ago; Sorry, Haters and London River. both ok, the first stuck in mind more, mostly due to Robin Wright's act.

Enjoyed James Wan's 'The Conjuring' at the Cinema the other day. Old fashioned scares and very well directed. It brings nothing new to the genre but an enjoyable romp all the same. It appears that a follow up has been planned for 2015 already!! I assume that means that another case of the Warren's will be tarted up and given the Hollywood treatment.

It peaked my interest enough to read around the couple, interesting to note about the Museum which has objects from old cases, etc. It seemed that they had gained much respect in their field. I'd recommend to anybody who's a fan of this genre..........

i watched soderbergh's The Informant recently. the way the story is told is hilarious (after the fact) since *SPOILER* you never know when or if the dude is telling the truth. at first you assume certain things said were true, but you eventually realize that there's no good reason to believe one thing over another, or, in fact, believe anything at all.

The Informant was fun. You couldn't make it up. It defintely seemed like one of those fact is stranger than fiction type stories.

Coincidentally I just watched a doc called The Men Who Made Us Fat. About the processed food industry's switch from sugar to corn syrup and the resulting worldwide obesity epidemic. There's something we can believe in; corn syrup will kill ya.

i'm interested to see

about a recording studio in Van Nuys that closed after 40 years of operation.
Dog in the Sand, FB&C and Pistolero were also recorded there.

Just grabbed A Hijacking. It's supposed to be a super tense drama about the ransom negotiations between Somali pirates and a Nordic company who won't pay full amount. Sounds good.

I saw MEGA SHARK VS CROCOSAURUS the other day. I had a hard time staying until the end. Yet I did enjoy the fact that they tried to make up for the shitty FX and total absence of a plot by writing some hilarious dialogs. "I think the shark...just went nuclear!"

I have high hopes for next week's TWO-HEADED SHARK ATTACK though. Starring Carmen Electra.

Has anyone else been watching The History of Film on TCM? (or watched it on BBC)

The guy's up-inflection has stopped annoying me.
