Horrors! You can't be serious, Kelly! Two of Frank's most personal songs.
Repent!
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

Honeycomb All of it
"Now you're officially my woman. Kudos. I can't say I don't envy you."
Imagining you putting in the CD, skipping all the tracks and then taking it out again. Your Honeycomb ritual.
Anyone else skip Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day?
_______________ Ed is the hoo hoo
The song or the 'album'? Actually, in both cases the answer is no. That is a great song for the car on a spring or summer day with the windows down and driving along a country highway. And the Sister Isabelle on that cover is great for shredding your vocal cords later on that same trip (especially the end) not to mention I love the keys.
"Now you're officially my woman. Kudos. I can't say I don't envy you."
The albums Oddballs, OMRFTH, and SSMVGD are all great albums and for me on a par with the others. There's not a track on any of them I'd skip except for SSMVGD's god awful title track (though I like Honeycomb's version of the song and would be happy to hear it out on a country road).
Strange you mentioning Sister Isabelle as I was playing the John Peel session of the song yesterday. That's a great 5 song session by the way.
Great idea for a podcast. Should generate a lot of heat. And I'm happy to recant on the SSMVGD title track if you promise not to play it on that podcast. Pleeeeease!!!

I think all 3 of those songs are fine. |

No, but I can understand it not being the most enjoyable as a song, but 1826 has a manic, frantic, freight train of guitars power behind it that is unparalleled in Frank's catalog.
My life is dirt but you seem to make it cleaner... reduce my felony to a misdemeanor
i think the song is fine, although way way too long. and also i feel it doesn't fit o nthe album. |

This is what I love about FB; no one ever agrees on a stinker and more often than not the ones we hate become favorites years later. Allow me to enrage most of you:
Orange: Adda Lee (sometimes) TOTY: The Hostess with the Mostest (often) Cult of Ray: I Don't Want to Hurt You (always) Oddballs: Baby That's Art (usually) FB&tC's: none! Pistolero: none! DitS: none none none BLD: Black Rider II (nearly always) DW: The Scene (often) SMYT: Jaina Blues (nearly always), Massif Centrale (sometimes), Manitoba (sometimes) OMRFTH: none SO: Belle Isle (sometimes) FBF Disc One: nothing! FBF Disc Two: everything. In fact, I may have never finished listeing to this one Honeycomb: none really, though the idea of Violet tempts me sometimes :) FMRM: I skip around a lot, but these (controversial) tracks stick out as constant skippers: Fitzgerald, Elijah, The Real El Rey, Holland Town Christmass: Radio Lizards (always. it refuses to grow on me), is 666 the slow one? If so, always always that. Bluefinger: She Took all the Money (Shamalama-skip track. always) SVN FNGRS: The Tale of Lonesome Fetter (only sometimes and then only to get to track 7)

Just listened. Yeah, it's alright. Less abrasive, maybe? Still not one of my favorite Frank songs. Oddly enough, though, it's one that I constantly sing around the house. |

Oh, I've all kinds of terrible songs in my head (that I sing). Wake Me Up Before You Go by Wham being an example. Or various Madonna songs. That doesn't mean they're good.
But, Manitoba is good. But, otherwise I agreed with your list. |

I love Honeycomb, in it's entirety. I rarely listen to FM/RM, San Antonio and a few other good ones, but not enough to dig out the CD.
Sunny Mil Valley is one of my favorite tracks! Great to strum along with..

Usually skip When I Go Down on You and much more often Nonstoperotik. Lyrics being my problem with both.
No doubt about it, the single fb track I have skipped the most is the acapella version of Six Sixty Six from Christmass. I just can't listen to that.
I'm sure there would be tracks on FM/RM or Bluefinger that I would skip if I ever listened to them. |

I'm bored. I'll keep the dream alive here.
I never could stand:
Hermaphroditos
End of Summer, When the Paint Grows Darker Still
You're Such A Wire
I Don't Want To Hurt You (Every Single TIme) and while were at it on Cult... Mosh, Taco, Adventure, Cult, Last Stand
Other skippers that are okay I guess, I just usually skip:
Lake Of Sin, When I Go Down On You
The Seus
I Heard Ramona Sing, Adda Lee, Everytime I Go Around Here, Don't Ya Rile em
I Think I'm Starting To Lose it So. Bay (I know a lot of people like this one. Sorry - I don't get it) The Scene Another Velvet Nightmare Where The Wind Is Going (I would probably like this if it didn't sound like a headphone monitor mix for FB)
I never skip anything on:
Bluefinger Black Letter Days Tears FB&tC's TOTY
Ayerigvlagabriga-Raraaaargh!-Rumbahl-Jumbahl! |

Unfortnately I gotta stop there for now; how freakin' prolific can an artist be? Black has got to be coming close to Bob in output; has anyone done the math?
If this is all I am skipping I must be listening to way too much Frank Black.

I'm a liitle surprised to also see Kicked In The Taco and Cult Of Ray's title track on johnny's list but I'm not joining the posse. No sense in driving him to a Butch/Sundance type of last stand. I mean I routinely skip Headache and Speedy Marie.

I'm weird about certain things and I def wish I could change one thing in particular.....cuz it hinders my conversations with friends and on music forums. I NEVER KNOW THE TITLES (in most cases, not all) of individual songs. Weird, huh? I mean I know entire albums, every word every musical note, what NUMBER the song is in the cd, but not the freakin title!
It's just a crazy quirk. The only time I check out a sleeve is literally to see who's playing what. I'm always so excited to put a new album/cd on, that I listen & dont wanna read anything. ha ha. Like with (perhaps) my fave album of all time by anybody ("TOTY"...ahh....just writing TOTY is ecstacy). I'll tell somebody, like, " I love that song so much" "Which one, Simi?" "Juxtaposed" "What?!" "You know that song that has has that cool word in it, 'juxtaposed', and the music then changes?" Help!!! ha ha
BTW, I've changed my ways. I now, too, want a new Pixies album. Fuck Kim! Just playing hoo hoo |
