I just received the physical album and discovered there are no details on who plays on which songs. I don't even know who's the drummer. Does anyone have any information about it?
The lineup says:
Eric Drew Feldman - Keyboards Black Francis - Guitar, vocals David Henderson - Drums Todd O'Keefe - Bass Dave Philips - Guitar Tony Maimone Jack Kidney Todd Demma - Drums on When I Go Down On You
I guess Jack Kidney plays the sax on Rabbits, and the guitar solo on Cinema Star sounds like Dave's work, but that's about it. Thanks in advance for the help.

Tony Maimone is a bass player. Didn't he play live with him in the 90s?

Yes, and he was a member of Pere Ubu along with Feldman, later.
Just found this interesting link about Black and Ubu. http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=41&threadid=78995

Isn't that a recorder on rabbits and not a sax? Whatever it is, I'm now liking a song I never cared for live.

I'm guessing its EDF - it sounds like his speaking voice, so i'm assuming it is him.

Good bump Vilainde, I wasn't aware Dave Philips played on the album. I will revisit NSE.
What were the bonus tracks from NSE again? I only recall 'T'aint No Use' which was pretty awesome. |

Grindsman and Rocket USA. Ghost Coming was an outtake I think. |

Thanks Maharal! Gave NSE a listen this morning, it is indeed better than I recall. Maybe when it came out I was wanting something else.
But all the songs seem better than I remember, only really the title track is the only song that doesn't do much for me.
But 'Oh My Tidy Sum' is really fantastic, I cant believe I haven't listened to this song more, it is classic FBF right up with Ramona. |

In a radio interview circa Fast Man Raider Man, Frank mentioned that "Tain't No Use" was one of his favorite songs at the time and he specifically mentioned Stuff Smith's version.
Don't know if this is the same Stuff Smith version (Smith might have recorded it more times), but this is what's on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDJV8sVyKgQ |

So is Dave the only Catholic to have played/recorded with Frank post Catholics? |

I'm pretty sure at the time an even more obscure bonus track named "Lost mi Love" was released but I couldn't find it anywhere... Does anyone have a clue about this?
Edit: it's still available on iTunes(thought it had disappeared) for 0.99 cents. It's a cover of Yellowman, Bluefinger style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOZtBjcvOgs . Not sure I like it, but glad to hear something "new" anyway. |
