| I can get to fires if I drive less than an hour in almost any direction. The sky is getting a little thick with smoke. |

I don't mind the fires but these Santa Ana winds give me a real mean streak for some reason.

Your abode is immune until it's not. If you live in a seasonally dry place, you're at the mercy of fire. It's shocking to see how it races along and consumes everything. It can get pretty dry and combustible.

Is it just me, or is it weird that smoke looks the same on a macro scale as it does on a micro scale? This looks like thousand-mile-long puffs of cigarette smoke.

| Now the moist air from the ocean is blowing all the smoke back into L.A. It's a lot worse than earlier this week. Today's sunset should have been brilliant but the smoke was so thick I could only see an orange disk. |

there was an amazing picture in the LA times of this halloween decorated house that looked like a haunted house. not just a haunted house but the house itself looked like a monster - the windows looked like eyes and there was this structure that looked like a nose. and there was all this halloween stuff on the front lawn like a scarecorw and jack o lantern and shit. but, the whole house was also literally on fire.
it was like, you couldn't pay for better production design, but it was real. did anyone see that photo? we have it up on the walll at my work |
