True. But also another long-ago reported story that is getting play because of yet another report.

if we became vegetarians, won't it just become humans who are belching, farting and shitting all this crap?

I don't think we make as much methane, because we aren't ruminants. |

There's also the issue of deforestation for grazing. |

No, because until now no one has insulted other members as being brain-dead zombies that need to wake up and discover the truth (as confirmed by you). There also hasn't been any excessive pasting of text. |

But, unless you chew your food, swallow it, digest it, regurgitate it back up, chew some more, and swallow it to a second stomach, then you are not a ruminant. |

I think there's some talk that changing the diet of cows would reduce their methane emissions, but as llama said having fewer cows is a solution. |

so it's more a reason not to keep ruminants than to stop eating all meats.
how do we get rid of ruminants without doing the very thing a lot of vegetarians are opposed to?
edit: just seen your post about diets. ok.

I don't think we really need to worry about finding people willing to eat cows. The idea would be that if fewer people ate beef, then demand would drop and fewer cows would be raised. |

The brain-dead zombie thing is just my "schtick".
The Iran thread was perfectly civil on my end. The Foxed up members of the forum were the ones threatening to "crush" people and flipping the fuck out over stuff I never even mentioned as if I had.
There was no need to delete that thread. It was topical and therefore heated so it was locked.
And the truth as confirmed by me is still the truth for the most part as far as I can decipher it. I don't have all the answers.
Without really knowing you Darwin I get the impression you are somewhat mind-locked in liberal ideals. I still stress that the left/right paradigm is a designed farce and those that fall for it are playing into the hands of the people that control us.
I would again like to quote a passage from page 1247 of Dr. Caroll Quigley's book "Tragedy and Hope." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_Quigley
The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.
I don't have all the answers to this extremely complex puzzle but I feel I should have ignited enough curiosity in people to cause them to look into some of these things.
No offense intended.

if the demand dropped, wouldn't the price rise and thus the farmers would raise more beef? if we ate less beef, it would only create a surplus of farting, belching, 4-stomached ruminants. we must eat more beef to save the planet, period.
argument: is there a reasonable substitute for beef?
The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind. |

Do you have try to dominate all of the threads? And calling it a "schtick" doesn't make it any less of asshole behavior. And you're right, you really don't know me, and you're an asshole for calling me "mind-locked" {and I've quoted it so that you can't go back and edit it like you often do} |

i was actually suggesting that we would either have to slaughter them or leave them all to die. but i was wrongly thinking too much along the lines of "government bans cattle livestock to prevent global warming. stop eating beef now."
but yeah, it would have to be that gradual process you describe (obviously already in force for vegetarians fighting for animal rights)
do you think people are more likely to stop eating meat/beef to stop global warming than for animal rights?

when putting the less cows/ruminants solution to my 5 year old daughter, she then asked what we would do for milk and cheese. Which is a fair point - maybe we should all go vegan *waits for Noisy*

The solution is soybeans, people. Fields and fields of them.
Or eating nothing but veal, per darwin's suggestion.
So the fate of the planet lies in you, yes, you choosing between the soy bean and veal. What do you choose? Do I hear "garden burger with soyarella cheese"? Do I?

Do I try to dominate all of MY threads? Is that what you are asking? I guess when dealing with three to for very aggressive detractors that certainly could be the case.
The truth can be a bitter pill for most people. Yes my schtick is asshole behavior and that behavior is also a schtick. I don't actually know any of you so I use that fact to aggressively present this stuff. Lord knows our television, radio and print do not. Do you know how many people I meet on a day to day basis that are so fucking asleep I just want to go up and shake them until they snap out of it. You guys are getting that shaking.
You all should be thanking me and kissing my ass after gracing you with my presence after every post I make on this little forum.

You try to dominate all threads that you participate in. And no threads are 'MY' threads. Maybe that's the problem. You think you set them and then they're yours.
You right most of us don't know each other, but the only persona you present is pompous asshole. Therefore, here you are a pompous asshole. I guess you're fine with that, since you need to do that in order to save the world. |

What I do know, is that global warning is a farce and your pal Bill Oreilly believes it!!!! Since you are in line with Bill, should I call you foxxed up? |

Kok--I hope you keep up the fight. Despite my disagreements with you, discussion is very important. I find it strange that people that believe our governments need to talk instead of fight refuse to talk themselves. "Cant we just get along, sit down and talk? We're all people who need to understand each other." Oh you disagree with me? Lets stop talking. |

I'm on the fence with global warming. I tend to agree it's a farce for a variety of reasons no one will believe if I lay them out again so I won't. I did my homework and rented Fat Alberts heart wrenching tale of when he was a skinny little rich kid and the rivers ran full and the air was clean.
I was looking for Darwin's input after my posting about viewing "An Inconvenient Truth" but he always seemed to disappear when I made a good point or put some effort into looking at his side of things. Something he steadfastly refused to do for me.

it's more like "oh, you refused to listen to my rational arguments and then called me a brain dead, mind controlled slave with a meaningless life. let's stop talking."
ignoring someone isn't analogous to going to war, either.
