That's the personnel on the album though, not the touring band. Dan Schmid did not play bass on the tour, it was "Ding" Archer. Ding is from Manchester and currently in a band called Bobbie Peru. He also played with The Fall and PJ Harvey.
Guitarist Charles Normal is Larry Norman's brother, which is how he met Frank (who is a big Larry Norman fan). He and drummer Jason Carter (who met Frank through him) are in a band called Guards Of Metropolis, who just released their first album, "Alligator".

Bobbie Peru seem to be taking off in the UK to a certain degree.
I'd be surprised if Charles Normal doesn't appear in some capacity on the tour. I think it was in the Blackolero interview that he referred to the fact that fb's decision not to play guitar on the Euro tour was a fairly last minute thing; he'd only learnt the lead parts to the songs at the point. |

It sounds to me, from the press release, that Charles will be back to playing lead guitar for this tour.
While I enjoyed watching him jump around the stage like a madman :) I did feel the music suffered too much with a brand new touring band performing all the parts.

He will be joined on this trek by the group of musicians who recorded “Bluefinger”: Violet Clark/vocals, Dan Schmid/bass, and Jason Carter/drums. Black Francis will play guitar and harmonica and sing.
i don't know.

This band is amazing!!! Totally rocking!! I was at both the Portland shows and the Wow Hall show and it got better for every night!!!!
Here's some more info on the drummer Jason Carter: He also plays in a band called Guards of Metropolis. (the guitar player Charles Normal who was on the Euro tour is also in that band along with two Norwegian chicks.) They have some pretty cool stuff, I especially like the song Alligator and Postcards From Heaven. Jason's drumming is impeccable and the guitar riffs are hot!! Great lyrics too. You can check out their website at http://www.guardsofmetropolis.com If you dig it as much as I do you can download their album on iTunes. |
