I ALWAYS thought the lyric was "ride a tire down river Euphrates." I was checking through some lyric websites and a lot of them say the lyric is "ride the tiger down river Euphrates." I still think it has to be "tire," because tiger just doesn't make any sense to me. Does anyone know this for sure? Has BF/FB stated what it is? |

Welcome!
According to fb.net's discopedia it's "Ride the tyre." I think we had a thread somewhere debating that but I can't find it.

No problem.
And in regards to the original post I still think it's 'tyre'.

Ok, it looks like we're all in agreement. I saw the wrong lyrics on at least three sites, I was starting to think I had been singing it wrong for the past 18 or so years. Thanks everyone. |

But tigers can swim!
Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure it is "tire" (or "tyre," for you non-American types).

Read Life of Pi. One of the great books. And it's by a Canadian. Which makes it worth more these days.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Any mammal (animal?) with four legs can swim. It's true! Doesn't mean they like it though. Cats are hilarious when they swim.

I think the tiger might be the only feline species that seems to LIKE water.

Hi tpoleson. I used to think it was 'ride a tiger', but, yep, does sound like 'ride a tire' to me.
I 'tire' of this debate.

But tiger makes so much sense! Ride the tiger, like 'put a tiger in your tank', as in Exxon, oil, and the Euphrates is in Iraq, which is oil land (stuck here out of gas). And Euphrates's co-river is the Tigris, so tiger....Exxon....no? Okay, no.

Not with a person on their back though. I'm just guessing. I wouldn't volunteer to test it out is what I'm saying.

I always imagined that after he was "stuck here out of gas" that he pulled a tire off his useless automobile and hopped in the ancient waterway (the River Euphrates) riding it into the Dead Sea...
I don't even know if that's where the Euphrates ends up. [geography lesson please]

I always thought it was Tigris, like the Tigris River.
The Tigris is the eastern member of the two great rivers that define Mesopotamia, along with the Euphrates, which flows from the mountains of Turkey through Iraq.

I believe the Tigris and Euphrates both empty into the Persian Gulf.
