I'm having grief editing my first post to correct the unfortunate spelling error, not to mention the dead link to the photo. Facebook seems to hate linking to pics with html.
Anyway, the Tele is a most mighty guitar. I salute fb for playing such a fine range of the 'block of wood with pickups'.

Here are two of my favorite "in action" Tele photos.
This one has capabilities beyond its wildest nightmares.
And this one wishes Pete had made the switch to Gibson SG sooner.

That ugly '70s Strat neck has to go!
Also, IMHO a Tele just isn't itself without a proper bridge p/u. |

I just have to post this pic as a nod to the ground breaking Fender Broadcaster.
The most battered and bruised always seem the most stunning |

I posted that in the Joe Strummer thread, but no one listens to me. What amuses me most is that they supply you with a bunch of stickers, in tribute to his individualism, so you can make your guitar just like his.
I've heard the Telecaster described as the electric guitar in its most utilitarian form. I think it's amazing that Fender made such a great guitar so soon in its history.
The Ultimate Guitar Book - "...a brilliantly simple piece of design which works as well today as it did when introduced in 1951."
(The Broadcaster started up in 1950, I've always imagined that it is the Broadcaster in "Planet of Sound")

me too. i didn't see it in the strummer thread, hh, don't think i've actually checked that thread out. "To celebrate Strummer’s fierce sense of individuality we've cloned his guitar for joe public". |

and colour of scratchplate?
I love the old fender posters
but can't remember the last time I saw a headstock with this font, it's been so long.

Exactly, but I suppose the sort of person who buys that guitar wouldn't see the irony. RIP punk rock ethos.
Can't say I blame his family ("estate") for licensing it but that doesn't make it any less silly.

Yeah, it really is quite ridiculous.
I can see the thinking behind some 'Artist Series' models; Andy Summers' Tele comes to mind, because it's truly unique, build in fx and all. |

this is not tele related - but since we're talking about "Artist Series" - check this guitar out -
This thing is crazy - a replica of the guitar EVH made famous - with cigarette burns, duct tape, and all -
it goes for $25,000

It's not worth that much! I've noticed this disturbing trend, even at Gruhn they have a 1952 Telecaster that has been refinished, and then "relic'd".
Peavey used to make a 5150 that looked a lot like that amp. Does anyone know who makes the 5150III? [It's a Fender!]
That's not worth $25,000.00, but this may be worth $500,000.00

Ha, FBC you posted that same picture in the guitar porn thread! Oh well...
No, I haven't heard a thing since February. I was busy around then, and so is he, but I will.
His website is not very up-to-date. Maybe I should enlist a bunch of people to nag him. |

If you like Fender Tele's you should all check out the G&L ASAT; it's the next step in Leo's evolution of the instrument. Even better. http://www.glguitars.com/frameset.htm

Yeah, a local store of mine is selling one, from the cheaper 'Tribute' range, for £299! It's gorgeous. |

The maple ASAT neck on my non-G&L Strat body has the greatest frets I've ever played. G&L's are wonderful guitars and IMHO a better representation of Leo's handiwork than Fender.

I had a quick play on a tribute series ASAT and then tried a tele american deluxe......the ASAT played and sounded far superior. I will be getting a ASAT bluesboy semi hollow tribute soon, cannot wait.

About a decade ago G&L was running an ad with the Hellecasters playing ASATs (can someone find that picture?), one had a Bigsby. I went to the local G&L dealer and I said, gimme dat, they said that it wasn't in the catalogue. I was incredulous.
I phoned G&L, who opined, "A Bigsby? He must have had it installed, we don't sell them like that."
BTW, the word from my tech is, "I will try to have your axe ready soon." |

Lots of players think the G&L Invader is a Strat-Clone, Super-strat whatever, I've found it to be cross between a Les Paul and a Tele (Humbucker/Sngle coil switch rules!). I don't think I'll ever find something better suited to my needs as far as electrics go...

I really wanted a G+L with neck humbucker, and single coil bridge, but in the Tribute range it only seems available in semi-hollow version.

The Baja Telecaster, Mexican made but with Custom Shop pups and styling, is a work of art. |
