Dean (Cult of Frank) asked me to help compile the many Frank Black and Pixies videos on YouTube in one handy place. We've collected as many as we could find, and have tried to keep it updated, though I'm sure we've missed some. (If anything, it's more complete on the FB side, as there is a lot to wade through Pixieswise.)
To see what's there, go to www.youtube.com/frankblacknet and choose the playlists link. If you know of any we've missed, feel free to post the links in this thread and I'll update the playlists accordingly. And if any of the videos we've linked to are no longer there, post a note here about that, too.
We're sort of in the beta stage with this project right now. With a little help from forum regulars, we can make it more complete before Dean announces it on the general fb.net site.

I wondered that myself. The main page is a lot more cool looking, but if users don't figure out to go to the playlists from there, then the organization of the videos is lost on them.

I had uploaded the Rockpalast DVD when I first set up the account and it was removed for some reason as well... I don't think it was an FB rights issue, so must be the venue or TV station. Crazy that they'd care if you ask me.

i like the men in black video.
i've had that on VHS for years and used to watch it quite alot.
i'm in the process of uploading a small set of frank vids from live in some studio in texas in 1993

Yyyyyyyyy-don't think so. I actually took that vid from youtube with something called HeyWatch, it might be able to but it costs money now so I kinda gave them up. I'll try tho.
[edit] okay i got it, but it's in flv format so it's just a matter of converting to avi and uploading to youtube.
jeez, all this stuff is freaking confusing! it makes me wish i was a nerd.

But seriously, thanks for trying. Maybe I'll give it a shot myself. I knew squat about YouTube before I started working on this site, and I really need to teach myself some tricks and learn the ins and outs.

here's a (mac) tip for you coastline: when you're watching a youtube vid, go to the 'WINDOW' menu at top of your screen, select 'ACTIVITY' and find the largest file (the one that's MB not KB. it's the video itself). Double click on it and it will automatically download onto your machine.
Convert the downloaded file using iSquint (free application). |

mr. bdh, there are also free converters, some even online like http://vixy.net
but, PLEASE, don't use these methods, at least not for this sacred collection (unless there are no alternatives)
what you do is take an already crap quality format (ok, dailymotion is much better in this dept. than youtube), encode it with lossy compression process into a different format, then youtube encodes it again into the original format but with yet another compression (and possibly resize) and loss of picture and sound quality
instead you should have a good quality hi-res content (original if possible) and encode (and downsize if necessary) to youtube digestible format in a single once and for all process.
don't rush to get a poor quality vid to this collection, please

As to putting poor-quality videos in the collection, tisasawath, I'm indeed sensitive to that. I've tried to include the best ones possible when there are more than one, but when all you can find or create is a low-quality version, that's what you have to go with. And then, of course, you watch for better ones in the future.
