I am 43. Got into the Pixies when I heard an interview with Throwing Muses in the 80's. The person interviewing them asked who their favorite band was. Tanya and Kristen looked at each other and both said "Pixies". Being a huge Throwing Muses fan I had to check out Pixies. Come On Pilgrim had recently came out so I bought it. I have since purchased every Pixies and Frank Black album the day they have been released. I cant wait for Sept.3rd! |

Wow Erebus. This is encouraging. I still have a solid 10 years of fandom in front of me!

I know. Here I am 52 and the last disc I bought was The Very Best of Bananarama. I kick myself for missing the Pixies during their heyday. Back then I was in lurrrv with a lady with two little kids and paying more attention to Alf than pop music. I'll never do that again.

But does any of that explain The Very Best of Bananarama? And do they have a disc that is just The Best of Bananarama?

I'm 23, and FB's music has been a permanent fixture in my life ever since I dug Teenager of the Year out of a used CD bin in Lawrence, Kansas almost seven years ago or something.
I don't live in Kansas anymore, though.

you're not alone, ziggy. i discovered nirvana because of the pixies, actually. i thought "hey, if kurt said he was copying the pixies, maybe nirvana's pretty good, too".
honestly, i don't think they sound anything alike.

allright I'll weigh in - because I just had a birthday - turned 38 yesterday
Doolittle is what set me off - I heard it right before Trompe Le Monde came out - I immediately began to work my way backwards through the catalog and have gobbled up every new Frank release since then
Nirvana never did anything for me personally - but it's cool that it led so many people to the real deal

26 here, only got into the pixies when I was introduced by my sister at 17, got into frank black by randomly spotting a gig of his in my home town in 2001, bought DITS as that was his current album, and the rest is history as they say.... |

Just to add I did have a Nirvana phase too, bought nevermind when I was searching basically for music to like. My sister is my main inspiration she is 10 years older than me, and introduced me to bands like the pixies and JAMC plus REM and the sugarcubes when I was about 8 or 9. I liked them at the time but didn't really get in to music until I was in my late teens. |

I guess I am officially out of my 20's because I am 30. I first heard of the pixies when a friend lent me Trompe Le Monde, which I never got around to returning. |

I'm 29. I heard my first Frank album (TotY) when I was 22. I got into Frank solo before the Pixies, and I was never interested in Nirvana. So I'm probably not an average fan, which would mean my age doesn't really matter.

You win second place. Erebus is older.

I propose that we found an Old Timers chapter of the fan base, with preffered ticketing and reserved seating in the mosh pit.

What are the criteria for oldness? Older than the average age here? Older than Frank?
