Starbucks is tired. It's not disgusting or anything, but for those who have a favorite local coffee joint, or who would like to recommend a favorite that's not mass produced, please share!

I enjoy straight shots of espresso and also just a great cup of joe. I used to go black, but got into milk and sugar a couple years ago when I discovered that it allowed me to drink the coffee sooner by cooling it down.

I also try to support free trade coffees if I can.

My current faves:

David Lynch Signature Cup - best smelling fresh ground coffee I've ever smelled (Organic French Roast)

The Coffee Fool - wide range of high quality beans - try the sampler pack

Full City - currently only in Eugene, OR, but I'm going to try to order some from them. Recommended by coastline as the best latte ever. I only had a cup of Full City Blend, but it was definitely a winner!

Would love to hear some recommendations of local places to go when traveling about the country/world.

Well, since I can't recommend Full City anymore, I'll just tell a story about it. Several years ago, one of the columnists at my paper, who lives in a small Colorado town that's a lot like the one in "South Park," told me he was going to Eugene, Oregon, for his daughter's wedding. I suggested he go to Full City if wanted some good java. He said he'd try. A few weeks later, he sent me a package. It was two bags of beans from Full City. Turns out his brand-new son in law was the manager of Full City Coffee in Eugene, Oregon. Now there's a connection.

My favorite beans are Millstone's Mayan Black Onyx blend -- which I buy at several different grocery stores here. It's better than anything I've gotten at any coffee shop anywhere.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

I'm sure I've started at least two threads on the subject as well. Do your research!

there's a serious lack of green tea threads however.

No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God George Bush snr

Yeah, but this one's called "The Coffee Thread" and now I have links to the other threads for free ;)

Anyway, I read those threads, and aside from a couple posts, they don't have much local flavor. I thought Peete's was great for a while, but there's much better stuff out there. I'm looking for stuff like Frnk was originally asking for, like "where's the best place to get an espresso while in town?" I assuming he meant, you know, besides freaking Starbucks. Where do the locals go?

For example in San Francisco, the best espresso I've had was at Coppola's restaurant. A nice place to eat before going to the theatre as well. Stuff like that.
