Any other forum members addicted to coffee? As I'm a senior in college I drink coffee regularly throughout the day. I know it's unhealthy, but I don't care.
Any interesting coffee stories or caffeine trips?

Can you believe my parents still drink instant Folgers (the one with "flavor crystals"...whatever the hell that means) every morning.
I swear I didn't know that there was such a thing as good coffee until I was in college and the Starbucks boom hit the NW.
Strangely enough whenever I am home the smell of it still makes me smile. |

I have changed my signature especially for this thread. Although, I don't really agree with the sweet bit. Sugar in coffee is for girls. I'm taking it to mean the other sort of sweet.
Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death and as sweet as love. |

Awesome sig. starmekitten.
I personally never put sugar in my coffee. My grandmother has the best phrase for coffee black....she says, "I'll take mine barefoot"

I never drink coffee, and never have. I can't even stand the smell. My girlfriend loves the stuff, but I have no idea why. The only coffee beverages I've ever even remotely liked were caramel-flavored, and that's probably because the caramel flavor overpowered the coffee flavor.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

Coffee is today's equivalent of nectar, the Drink Of The Gods. I make mine usually in one of those stove-top deals, except I only have one which makes a double espresso, therefore my coffee tends to be a double espresso with a bit of hot water and a dash of milk if I'm feeling weak. I have to admit to taking sugar with mine, but I disagree with no-sugar purists. Coffee's a bitter drink, and all about the taste - sugar in tea, for example, is for wimps and Northerners, but sugar in coffee (brown only) is a good thing. Just think, the great coffee drinking nations of thw world such as Italy, France, even North African countries - very strong, very sweet. Excellent.
I can't really go any fancier than a standard cappucino if I'm buying out, either. I don't hold with bowls full of latte a la Starbucks. My only regret with this policy is never ordering an orange-mocha-frappucino.
As for the beans, when I can get them (I pine for a Whittards shop near me): CafeDirect fair-trade coffee is the best I've tried.
How's that for a slice of fried gold? |

I definitely prefer my coffee black. In fact, I hate sugar in it. Has anybody tried to drink as much coffee as possible just to see what would happen?

Remember the Folgers sketch on SNL where Chris Farley goes ape shit and strangles the dude who tricked him into drinking it ala that stupid ass commercial they had in the 80's, or was that Sanka?
I like coffee but after two or three consecutive cups I always get this feeling like my throat is closing up. |

The gods drank all of it. Well, except for the little bit left over for the hummingbirds.

I only have expresso, black, no sugar. I hate cappuccinos and all the fancy stuff. I'm having this one:
cause it's fair trade, and it tastes great.
