Right on. Now where did I store that turntable? Maybe I'll start a new thread: how many people actually still own record players?

If you haven't spinned the "Marsist/Better Things" 7" on a turntable you haven't lived. I said.

I just purchased a replacement turntable for my old one. For me, it's the best way to listen to complete albums. T. Rex's Electric Warror on vinyl is insanely perfect, as is anything by Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry or the Beatles. My iPod is my standard everyday player - I just keep it on shuffle - but when I'm just lounging around with a drink or hanging out, the turntable's on.
Jefrey's right - this probably needs its own thread.
And you can bet I'll be getting the Threshold Apprehension 7". You never know what kid of gem that B-side will be. |

A: Threshold Apprehension B: Threshold Apprehension (Radio edit)
I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Though I wouldn't be surprised if the b-side was another BF track.

Well, I've just ordered my Blue Finger CDs from Amazon UK but no sign of the Threshold Apprehension EP. Where do you think it is being imported from?
If Frank does add some UK dates to his upcoming tour I hope they go on sale before Threshold comes out as single or else there's gonna be a problem getting tickets! |

What's with all the pre-order stuff? Everyone needs to head down to their local independent record store to order these items. For me, that wi ll be Earfood. Oh, and I have a turntable.

All my vinyl tragically melted in the back of my car driving across country in 1994. I never bothered getting a turntable again. I already have so much crap, I don't know where I'd even put it. I'll probably never spin vinyl again, but I have many fond memories of it.
I had some good irreplaceable stuff in the collection too. It's kind of sad. I really like the hugeness of album art on vinyl records.

I'm sure a lot of people here have turntables.
Anyway, to be pedantic, this probably not an EP, but rather a single. There is a difference, though the lines are sometimes blurred.
If this Bluefinger thing gets enough hype, hopefully someone will see fit to put it on vinyl. Aside from Show Me Your Tears, the only Frank vinyl we've gotten since 1999 is Pixies stuff (Purple Tape, reissues of Pilgrim, Surfer, Doolittle). |

September? September 7? Fuck man, that's an eternity. As for the single, I'll just wait till I can order it in English. Oh, and I have a turntable and a butt-ton of records, and I'm under 30.
I love this part... Yeah, we did it! |

BLACK FRANCIS to release new track “Threshold Apprehension” as digital download on 7th May followed by 7” single/download bundle on 28th May
Black Francis has announced that he will be releasing a brand new track “Threshold Apprehension” on Monday 7th May. Taken from his forthcoming Bluefinger album (due for release in September), the track will initially be available as a digital download, before being released as a limited edition 7” single and a digital download bundle on Monday 25th May (other tracks tbc).
Of the new material, Black Francis says: “Bluefinger: someone from Zwolle, Netherlands … So I used a couple of Herman Brood's painting titles for songs of my own for my new record Bluefinger. Herman Brood, the great Dutch rocker, painter, and famous junkie, who completed his journey in that great rock and roll suicide when he jumped off the Amsterdam Hilton a few years ago, was born in Zwolle. Up there on the hill, above the cows, Herman Brood descended and for 54 years lived and walked among us. I have my own impressions as to what his painting Threshold Apprehension was all about. My song Threshold Apprehension has nothing to do with the painting except that it, and my record Bluefinger, has everything to do with my impressions of Herman Brood.”
More details to follow ….

BLACK FRANCIS ON THE THRESHOLD OF NEW ALBUM Frank Black Francis The Pixies frontman to release first single from Bluefinger
Black Francis aka Frank Black has announced that he will release a brand new track "Threshold Apphrension" next month.
The single, from new solo album "Bluefinger" will be available as a digital download on May 7 and as a 7" vinyl/download bundle on May 28.
Talking about his new material, Black has released this cryptic tale of intent: “Bluefinger: someone from Zwolle, Netherlands … So I used a couple of Herman Brood's painting titles for songs of my own for my new record Bluefinger. Herman Brood, the great Dutch rocker, painter, and famous junkie, who completed his journey in that great rock and roll suicide when he jumped off the Amsterdam Hilton a few years ago, was born in Zwolle."
He continues: "Up there on the hill, above the cows, Herman Brood descended and for 54 years lived and walked among us. I have my own impressions as to what his painting Threshold Apprehension was all about. My song Threshold Apprehension has nothing to do with the painting except that it, and my record Bluefinger, has everything to do with my impressions of Herman Brood.”
Meanwhile, Black is also working on new Pixies material. In an announcement last Autumn, the group were scheduled to start rehearsals and recording at the start of January.
The solo project "Bluefinger" by his Black Francis alter-ego will be released in the UK in September.

Is it possible to order the 7" from the US now or do we have to wait until 5/25 to do so? I am so confused. Thanks.

<<BLACK FRANCIS to release “Threshold Apprehension” as a limited edition 7” single and download bundle on Monday 4th June
“Hold on to your universe … Black Francis is back, and this time he’s gunning for the loud-loud, having regained all that trademark fuckwail abandon of old.” – NME
“(Francis) relegates the soulful feel of recent efforts for something more raw, with Pixies-style guitars and screeching female backing vocals.” – Q Recommends ****
Black Francis has announced that he will be releasing “Threshold Apprehension” as a limited edition 7” single on Monday 4th June. The single, which will feature an exclusive track, “Get Away Oil”, will also be available as a digital download bundle.
“Threshold Apprehension” is taken from Francis’ forthcoming Bluefinger album (due for release in September). Of the new material, he says:
“Bluefinger: someone from Zwolle, Netherlands … So I used a couple of Herman Brood's painting titles for songs of my own for my new record Bluefinger. Herman Brood, the great Dutch rocker, painter, and famous junkie, who completed his journey in that great rock and roll suicide when he jumped off the Amsterdam Hilton a few years ago, was born in Zwolle.
