Discussion about the leak goes in here to save anyone who doesn't have it from having to read about it.
So lyrics, theories, tabs etc... all in here.
I'll get the ball rolling.....

Your Mouth Into Mine
Hey! Where you Going? Hahahaha
All my days i've been listening you pray I've spent all my days driving, all my nights trying You are so big but that don't make me so small You rule the world but now I am standing tall
I'm taking your mouth into mine Take it in now, take it in now, now, now, now Been waiting all my days for you now, been waiting all my
Got into your parts and I made you squeal And I got into your heart it was no big deal And I'm, taking your mouth into mine
Take it in now, take it in now, now, now, now Been waiting all my days to get on that, been waiting all my Taking your mouth into mine, suck it in now, suck it in now, now now, now Been waiting all my days to get on that, waiting all my
I'm taking your mouth
Got into your parts and I got into your charts and I'm taking your mouth, I'm taking your mouth, I'm taking your mouth, taking your mouth I'm taking your mouth, I'm taking your mouth
Scratching the surface without a purpose won't accomplish anything new

i just love the album. so raw and loud and brilliant. can't wait for the official release and get it on cd and play it loud. sure, mp3's are good, but i want a proper version.
threshold apprehension is a pure standout, along with tight black rubber for me.
so good to see frank back on form..
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

Is "Threshold Apprehension" real? Holy shit.
This is such an interesting album. Half sounds like material he wrote for the apparently-not-happening Pixies album ("Threshold Apprehension" and "Tight Black Rubber", for instance), and the other outtakes from FMRM recorded with a rawer band ("Discotheque 36" and "Bluefinger").
I appreciate, most of all, how this return to rock doesn't seem forced.

Treshold Apprehension makes me wanna dance like a teenager. This song is a massive hit. It sounds like a mix of "Fight for your right (to party)" and "Speedy Marie". |

Does anyone else think about The Rapture when listening to Threshold? It sounds a bit disco-ish to me. Like if all the new mutant-disco-whatever bands started writing great songs.

I love the sound of this album, it reminds me of the Peel Sessions with Teenage Fanclub for the raw telecaster sound, and the good old days with the Catholics. Lolita is a good example.
Fuck, I've never enjoyed a new Frank album as much since Dog In The Sand

I've never enjoyed a new Frank Black album this much full-stop. For me it's by far the best thing he's produced in what, 13 years? Since TOTY. There's so much energy, and the songs take the best bits from his entire career.
I think the Nashville stuff was FB trying to do something he just isn't very good at. Bluefinger is doing exactly what he's best at.

"Best thing since TOTY" is unfair IMO. I'd say, best thing since FB&TC (the album). Although I loooooooooove BLD.

Haven't given my opinion on it yet. I think there are some instant songs on it (Threshold, YCBAHAHI) and then having listened a few times some growers (D36 & Lolita). Easily the best thing he's done since BLD, and is probably as cohesive an album as FB has ever produced.
(I'm not a nashville hater btw, I like Honeycomb)

and btw this album sums up what is great about Frank There's not one FB album I would like to miss, but this record surpasses a lot of them. It's got the drive of the catholics first and the opening of TOTY, but there are some great backing vocals reminding me of Kim Deal/Dave McCaffrey and the great Honeycomb backing vox. What about the melodies? I absolutely love this one...damn!

Jop, you salty drop, you're going to rope me into this discussion one way or another, aren't you?
Besides the poor souls I've bothered by e-mail the past week or two regarding my crackpot theory about this album, has anybody else begun to figure out what the album is about? Or, should I say, who it's about? For those who worried a couple months ago that FB was losing his mind -- talking about drugs and sex and other sundry things not befitting a middle-aged man with two young babies -- don't worry. "Bluefinger" isn't autobiographical. It's BIOgraphical. It's about somebody. The whole thing. Every single song. Every lyric on the entire album is about the same person, and much of it is about a singular event in the person's life.
FB was hinting at this when he posted this:
quote: Originally posted by frnck blck
I make the album of that And the opera of the large kroost The general admittingness Of the night of Saturday Is perhaps new the fact That titled blue finger Is because of this city In the Netherlands That the place of birth he made this So that much of large arts is
And this blue finger report Still has onvermengd And which numbering songs From eleven in the summer 2007 Was solved Was solved Was solved
I won't spoil the mystery, because solving it has been so much fun and it's better if you figure it out yourself. But if anyone wants a clue, let me know. Well, here's one, actually:
"Tight Black Rubber" isn't about sex, as some people have suggested to me. It's about heroin. The tight black rubber is the tubing you tie around your arm and bite down on while you inject yourself. Well, maybe *you* don't inject yourself, but the person whom this album is about was, for a time, very serious about injecting himself, as many as 20 times a day.
p.s. To the person who shared this album with me and who asked me to keep quiet about it on the forum, I'm sorry. I just couldn't stay quiet any longer. I feel like a chump, because it's unfair to talk about it when other people don't have it, but fuck it. It's impossible to not talk about this album. It's so great. One of FB's masterpieces, both lyrically and musically.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Why are you both so secret about what BF is about, when you made a thread in the General chat about it? I thought everyone knew about it by now.
Then again, I'd never have guessed since I have no idea of who that guy is (was), so thanks for the tip.

FAST_MAN RAIDER_MAN - June 19th
(About time to change that sig, don't you think?)
I usually rank FB records like this, from fave to least fave: 1. TOTY 2. FB&TC 3. BLD 4. SMYT 5. DITS 6. COR 7. FB 8. DW 9. FMRM 10. HC 11. Pist
(although that list is quite unfair to FB & DW). And after 2 or 3 listens I'd say BF is around #3.
[edit: My posts always sound awfully cold. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE what I've heard of Bluefinger]

I've seen on a Radiohead forum, while googling for Bluefinger, someone called Banister sharing it.
That's not fair.

I dont need to discuss anything. I have every Pixies album and every solo Frank album aside from SMYT. I keep hearing nothing but praise for this new album, and I'm dying to hear it. I might be a newbie on the forum but I am definately not a newbie to FB. |

I thought the Lolita connection was one of the most obvious ones (Lola). Stop fooling around and get down to work! We have an album to decrypt here.
Well dug up Schitzo - that's one song less to pick apart.

Speaking of "Angels...", what's that first line?
"I Saw the statue of Herman Brood [Brode?] / it had a lump way down in it's throat / he played piano really fuckin' good...he was a slave to junk, etc."
So that's it, eh?
