Boy, the forum sure is quiet this week. One new topic today in the FB section, and Dean locked that one!

Anyway, what are people's favorite Christmas albums? I'm looking to pick up a few this season to add to my collection. So far this year, I've been listening to The Nutcracker and the Barenaked Ladies' xmas album. They both go well with the snow falling in Denver right now.

I could not find my honeycomb.

I'm kind of tempted by the Sufjan Stevens box, but I'm not sure I can take 5 discs of it...

COME ON, PEOPLE! A Christmas Gift For You From Philles Records! THE single-best rock'n'roll Christmas album ever made, and that ever will be made.

As far as "classical" Christmas albums go (well, not really classical, but you know what I mean), you can't go wrong with Olivier Messiaen, viz. Vingt Regards Sur L'Enfant-Jesus (20 Regards of the Infant Jesus), and La Nativite Du Seignor (The Nativity of the Lord). I apologize if my French spelling isn't accurate. I'm going off of memory.

This was released just before the holidays two years ago. Best Xmas gift I got then or at any holiday.

Perhaps this answer isn't in the spirit of your thread's query, but, goddamn, this album is full of cheer.

The new Sufjan box set is really quite delightful. If you like Sufjan, you'll like this a lot. My band's been working on a Christmas album for quite some time. Maybe we'll finish it one of these days. And maybe, so we don't offend anybody, we'll call it a "Winter Album."

Not albums but lovely 4-track EPs.

Really? Cool. I really liked that Christmas song she did a few years ago, "All I Want For Christmas", but I didn't realise she had done a whole album.

I like my Boney M, not that I'm one to listen to Christmas songs all winter, but if it has to be, they do a good job.

It is pretty great, Simon. Plus, each disc is only an EP, so its probably like a double album and not a box set.

Philly rock'n'roll of the highest order. Like maybe the rocking out bits of Ryan Adams' first album, that sort of deal. I actually recommend getting If You Didn't Laugh You'd Cry before the Christmas album...

This is the funniest thing I've heard. "O Holy Night" at Archive.org.

It's taking me 15 minutes just to get through the 2 minute song.

Chris Isaak's Christmas album is good. I also like Tiny Tim's. And this one collection of Christmas novelty songs that I had on cassette when I was a kid (Stan Freberg, Tom Lehrer... it's not the Dr. Demento collection, though that looks good, too.)

Otherwise, I've listened to very few Christmas ALBUMS all the way through. I've been meaning to hear the Phil Spector Christmas album forever, but never have, though the songs that get played on the radio from it are great.

I like Wham's song "Last Christmas", though aside from the chorus mentioning Christmas and the bells jingling, the content of the song isn't too seasonal.

Weird Al's "Christmas at Ground Zero" might be the best Christmas song of all time, though.

My favorite Christmas record is the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack, by Vince Guaraldi. It is a sure fire smile inducer.

The price on the Back to Mono boxed set has dropped DRAMATICALLY in recent days. You can now buy the whole set (which, of course, includes the Christmas album and three other CDs, as well as a thick, full-colour booklet) for $14.00 on Amazon (probably around $20.00 at your local CD store). That's brand new, sealed. Just two months ago it was around $65.00. Personally, I would highly recommend you get it. As fast as you possibly can!

Guaraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas may be the only Christmas album I truly like.

Bing Crosby's White Christmas is nice and I can still listen to Elvis sing Blue Christmas and all those gospel songs during December.

I bought KROQ Kevin & Bean Santa's Swingin' Sack just for Hey Santa by the Royal Crown Revue.

I remember having a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer album, probably the Burl Ives one, and a Little Drummer Boy album when I was child-ish.

Neither Joe Pass' Six-String Santa (which I remember by a different album title) nor Tuck Andress' Hymns, Carols and Songs About Snow do much for me.

I just don't like Christmas music much.

I would seriously buy a Christmas album of songs sung this terribly. This is ten times funnier than that American Idol William Hung shit.

The best part of this is right in the middle of the song...

"Oh nite, when Christ was booooooornnnnn-ehhhhuhhhh"

Near the end When the guy jumps an octave, you know he's asking for trouble!

I don't know who he is. I've googled it, but nothing. I would also recommend the guy recording an christmas album. It reminds me of the pseudo-AmericanIdol TV Show "Superstar USA"
