Oh my God! This is now on DVD! For those of you growing up in the 1970's, you may remember Saturday morning live-action space shows. These were SPACE ACADEMY, JASON OF STAR COMMAND, and my personal favorite ARK II. Well, to my shock and suprise, all 15 gloriously horrible episodes have found their way onto a very handsomely produced DVD boxset. I have since read the other two series will soon be following.
The series follows the adventures of a post-apocalyptic (focus is on pollution, as this was a big issue in the 1970's) family roaming the planet in a snazzy futuristic mobil-home with their motley assortment of animals, getting into adventures. Very cool and wayyyy stupid.

I remember that show, but didn't remember the name. They drove around in huge RV that kind of looked like a DeLorean. I didn't realize they only had 15 episodes.
I recently taped a few episodes of Wacky Races which I enjoyed as a kid and is on a station that I had free for a week. After watching 5 minutes of an episode I no longer have much nostalagia for the show. In comparison, Bugs Bunny and gang will always be good. |
