I got antsy and just ordered mine from Cooking Vinyl. Including shipping, $30 seems a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. |

PAL TVs made in the last 5 years or so should be able to play 60hz just fine... hence the whole reason why games released in PAL areas have that option!

US release looks unlikely if you read the Cooking Vinyl blurb:
"While the CD/DVD may one fine day be distributed to retail outlets, it is currently available as an exclusive to recordstore.co.uk and cooking vinyl’s online store..."

$30 seems a little pricey to me, here's hoping it shows up stateside soon. I'll pay it if I have to, but I'd rather pay a little less..... |

Any chance we could get 'Headache' available as a freebie download? I was really looking forward to a solo acoustic version of that one....!

I guess I'm just one of those guys who thinks that Frank can do NO WRONG - cuz I just gobble up everything he puts out. I love the video, I love the song - and I especially love that Frank took the time during his incredibly busy year to create a Christmass present for his most devoted fans.
I can't fathom how anybody could possibly complain about the tracklist or any other aspect of this gift - I just can't get inside the head of someone like that. Some might say I'm a lapdog - begging for more of Frank's tablescraps. I don't think I'm a lapdog. I might look like a lapdog - okay - sure - I'll admit it. |

Just ordered mine. I was fortunate enough to see him play solo, but this is a great treat for the fans who didn't get to. I'd be fine if it was just a CD with no new material, but five new "studio" recordings and a DVD really makes it a nice little Christmas treat. His full band version of Gyaneshwar was my favorite part of the last concert I saw, but the acoustic version in the video is still amazing. I really appreciate how dynamic and flexible he is with his songs. Each Pixies song may already have a "definitive" version, but I like to hear him continue to play with them. Same thing goes for his newer compositions. I think this'll be a splendid little release.

Hey Houston, nothing to worry about. We just love bitching. Everyone who has complained about the tracklist has already ordered his copy anyway. I know I have. I haven't been this excited by a new FB record since SMYT.

Just ordered mine! WOOHOOO!!! $28.00 ain't bad for this, in my opinion. If ya love Frank, fork it over...that's my motto. Probably wont see it until next year, however. I CAN'T WAIT!

I just ordered mine, too. I have a sneaking suspicion, though, that it will be more of a New Year's gift from Frank than a Christmass present. It wasn't clear to me what the shipping method was, but I figure it'll take a while to get from the U.K. to the U.S. No matter what, though, it's surely worth the wait.

Thanx alot to Brank F. and others who posted the links to get this baby ordered. I picked up 2. Maybe they'll send them early being that we wouldn't stand a chance of getting them on time for Christmas. |

This is the slowest time of year for mail also. As a frequent mailordering guy, I'm already starting to see things slow down a bit. If you live on the other side of the ocean, I not only wouldn't expect it to arrive by Christmas, but I'd give it about 10-14 days after shipping.
You might luck out though and get it much sooner. That happens, too. |

From what I gathered on the Cooking Vinyl site, it wont be released for shipping until the album release date (12/18). The standard mail shipping option is 10-14 business days after that, unless you opt for priority shipping alternative, which will take up to 5 business days. Cooking Vinyl doesn't even have it in stock yet. So I guess we can expect our CHRISTMASS gift to show up around 1/5/07 (at least all the way over here on the left side of the States...you right-handers may see it a couple days earlier).

Even with priority shipping, it could get held up in customs due to Homeland "security".
I bought a couple things from England on ebay within a week of each other, and one of them showed up in less than a week, and the other took over a month. I don't know if any of it had to do with packaging, or if it was just random. I mean, thank god they held up my sweater for a month to make sure it wasn't poisonous.
I had the same thing happen with shipments from Canada. Sometimes they go right through, and sometimes they get held up for weeks.
Anyway, I ordered mine from CV, and hoping I get lucky with the shipping.

The one that took over a month was probably surface mail. It's cheaper, but takes forever, even up to two or three months! Standard overseas airmail generally takes around a week, maybe a couple of days more at times.

The average package (a CD or a record) from the UK takes about a week (maybe an extra day or two) to reach me in Texas. And packages I send to the UK take about the same amount of time.
However, during the holiday season, add about 4 or 5 days to everything. Even Priority Mail within the US slows up. |

A BRIEF INTERVIEW WITH THE ARTIST CONDUCTED BY HIS WIFE, VIOLET, FOLLOWS:
VIOLET: I know you too well, I know how picky you are about questions. I am under a lot of pressure here!
FRANK: Don¹t worry about it, Honey. I¹ll walk you through it. Plus, it¹s only for mail order...plus, its the holiday season. This should just be about us having fun.
VIOLET: Okay then...how do you think the record turned out? Do you have a favorite track?
Frank: I think the record turned out great! I¹ve resisted all of this laptop technology for so long now, but I have to admit, it really made things convenient for us out there on the road. recording in the hotel rooms was especially a treat. I really enjoyed recording ³Radio Lizards². Its about the strangest recording I¹ve ever done.--just voices. Lots and lots of voices.. Singing about the haunting road of the troubadour... fellow troubadour Mark Mulcahy really helped out on this one. He sings like a beautiful woman.
Violet: Having seen many of your acoustic shows this summer, I feel that this record really captures the essence of the live acoustic Frank Black experience. What do you get out of hearing the live tracks now?
Frank: Well gee, Violet, I'd have to say, I really get a kick out of finally getting to hear what some of the audience members are yelling at me, because I find it very hard to focus on these comments during a show. people are funny.
Violet: ...and you can be quite funny, too, when you¹re up there, just you and your guitar. Were you a stand up comedian in a past life?
Frank: Well, comedians are troubadours, too. Remember that one time when we saw Eddie Izzard having coffee in Portland?
Violet: Yes! except that I wasn't there. You called and rubbed in in my face.
Frank: Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot.
Violet: Let¹s talk about the title. for a moment, Frank.
Frank: My father always encouraged me to one day put out a Christmas album. which I always found a bit strange, since he was a self-declared pagan. but, I guess by ³Christmas² he meant winter. And it always sort of bothered me that that extra ³s² got dropped off of Christmas.
Violet: Merry Christmass, then, Frank.
Frank: And a Happy Green Man to you, Darling

Heh, thanks Denis!
Nah, I didn't get an advanced copy. Just an email from Cooking Vinyl asking me to do more to 'announce' it (it was already in the news, discopedia, and on the front page at this point).
I did ask for some advance copies to give away for the podcast or the site but no dice. Better to give than receive, they told me. :)

Yeah. The other day I was at this resaurant and they were charging $3 for a cheap paper calendar advertising their business. Some of these guys get the whole advertising thing all ass backwards. Alas, I got a free calendar from some auto repair shop in town. Sombitches.
