Got it.
just listened to the 7 new songs and they blew my head off. pfff. i didn't really read the 15 pages but AM I THE ONLY ONE TO REALIZE WHAT'S GOING ON? i truly think frank have reached songcraft perfection since hc. forget ray davies, fuck randy newman, laugh at stevie wonder : the only dons fb is still competing with are paul macca and brian wilson. the new songs are truly great work : it's like being a beach boys fan where friends & 20/20 were released and no one got it.
well i get it. i KNOW what's going on.
PS : dont get me wrong is the best song i've heard in years. in years. (since the bbs' until i die, to be exact)

Yes but maybe it wont be better. Look "I will run after you" on the adam buxton youtube. There are a lot of live versions, no one moves like that one. Its cool to know the songs before they are on a definitive studio version, but sometimes you say like Eric Drew Feldman about California Bound: "Oh no, this could have been one of his best songs !". |

Got mine today what surprised me was the packaging a cardbordsleeve, and a booklett I would say it's luxury, hope it doesn't take away too much profit (considering the low numbers of sales).
I think the seven new songs are among the best things he has ever doen (only the Water doesn't grab me). Productionwise, I'm hoping frank will do this more often. I would buy this every year.
Only the live songs are sometimes a bit nervewrecking, especially on the older songs (pixies songs). Like Frank has too mesh with them to keep it interesting for himself. I also do think that Frank plays better with a band. When he's playing acoustic on the radio, and playing soft and gentle, he is as great as the next singer/songwriter, but when he's screaming and moaning he loses me from time to time. Could be that that's because I have heard those songs too often before. The new songs are heaven sent though!

I love it! The new songs are great and the acoustic versions of older songs are well done too. Nice song selection, I love bullet. Best FB cd in a while for me :) |

"The Water" and "Dead Man's Curve" are relatively new. This is their first release, though it's just live versions.

Anyone knows if Christmass can be ordered in south america (argentina)?
And as we talking Ray Davies, anyone have any clue why his songwriting went so dumb after Arthur? Did he felt from a tower or something? Dont want to be offensive, he will stay as the best of all. |

I actually just bought a box set of Muswell Hillbillies up through Schoolboys in Disgrace (was only $40 for six albums). Honestly, I love all that stuff. Don't understand the hatred for material like Preservation Act and the like. If anything, it sounds like the groundwork for indie pop albums that wouldn't turn up for another twenty years (I'm looking at you, Of Monteal). Really, really underrated.
The only post-'75 Kinks I've heard are on the Come Dancing compilation, but that seems pretty solid as well. And hell, Frank thought enough of that period to cover "Better Things". Might shell out another $40 for that box set too.

I got my copy of "Christmass" last week, and I must say I'm impressed. If you're interested in reading some more of my thoughts on it, you can do so on this livejournal entry.

Really like the CD, most of the new stuff is top notch, but was a bit surprised to find Rabbit Hole missing from the track list. It sounded great solo, and would probably work with a hotel room feel to it. Is there another version recorded already or what?

Me too.
Did it get played on the recent tour with the band? Or just solo? I only know the Cafe Du Nord version. |

It was also played in Brooklyn on Aug. 19. Not sure if it was the early or late show -- or both. When I get home, I can YouSendIt the version that I have.

I was just wondering about this the other day. What happened to the Rabbit Song? Why wasn't it on Christmass? Is it still in the pipeline for another release at a later date? Hmmm, maybe no-one but FB knows, but I was just wandering.

Here is what I think Frank would have to say about that ...
I will register the Rabbit Hole for the album with EDF. I realize that one favorite of the fans am, but I thought it will its plezier the of you for a year to remember or two. That is only how I am. I am a means, mean man. Only deceive. I forgot of that. Thanks for the memory, pixiestu.
