Yes! Me and Mrs. P have ordered our tickets and will be in Olympia hopefully around 6pm. Anyone want to meet up and drink alot before the show? I love these last minute deals. I can't wait. What a great surprise! |

Mrs P just reminded me that we have tickets for Devo on the same night as Frank in Oly.
Sorry Devo. |

The first half of this show was great. Then, spouse got drunk and we had to go home. Met friendly FB fans. |

Hey I think I saw you there! Towards the right hand side of the stage (when looking at it -- I can't remember what all that 'stage right' stuff means). Anyhow, I saw a guy watching the show and his girlfriend/wife kept turning around and talking to him and eventually they walked away.
Anyhow, the show was great. Frank was in good spirits despite having a rough cold, played for about 1:40. For the last 6-7 songs he stuck with a "true story" theme, though Where Is My Mind and Song Of The Shrimp were a bit of a stretch. My personal favorite was Manitoba, oddly a song that never really makes my favorites list, but just sounded great last night. |

Yeah, she's not a drinker. That's usually my job. Oh well. I took care of her like she has me many, many times in the past.
We met some very nice people there. Wonderful to meet nice folks. One guy was taking pictures. Hopefully he posts them (post the pix Scott!).
Frank is excellent at the acoustic thing. Loved the show. Last song I could hear was Nadine:
Cactus I'll Be Blue Nimrod's Son Bullet Whiskey In Your Shoes Raiderman Abstract Plane Sing For Joy (snap!) 666 (no guitar as usual) Wave Of Mutilation Wicked Son Goodbye Lorraine Horrible Day Los Angeles Calistan Dead Man's Curve Two Reelers All My Ghosts (straight into an aborted Headache after which he jokingly chastised us for applauding) The Water? Mr Grieves Nadine
Feel free to finish the set list as this is when Mrs. P realized that 4 vodka tonics were 3 too many.
Eyeliner? ....hissssssssssssssss!
Thanks for coming to Olympia, Chuck. Chatted with Carol Kaye yesterday. She says, "Lovely couple Frank and Violet,....Great singer Charles is,......with interesting songs." She's a great lady. Born in Everett, WA just like me. |

New video posted to youtube of Holiday Song, from the Olympia Show: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mo8YR8UacH4 How do I post photos from the show?
ScottP and I polled the audience and found all who we asked at the show were fans who visit this forum regularly. |

Hey Chip, nice videos, thanks
Love the neon signs and headlights of passing cars seen in the window behind The Man. With that as a backdrop, it looks as if Frank stopped by the neighborhood bar and sat in on writer's night.
And ScottP, I applaud your commitment to your Wife. Tough call, lot of options available to you, (option A: take her home option B: lean her up against the wall in a corner option C: take her to the car to pass-out and then go back to the bar for some more songs)
Any regrets?

Thanks chip (and hi!!), great footage. Frank looks so cool, and, like, CoffeeCan, I love the window behind FB with the cars passing!

Thanks Can. Like I said, she has suffered by my lack of good decision-making many times. She tried to hide from me so I wouldn't miss any of the show, but I found her due to my keen ability to detect and find drunk, hot, chicks.
Regrets? Yeah. Not saying goodbye to the cool people we met. |

Ha, you're alright in my book, ScottP...well done!
[note to myself: Try using honesty (acknowledge a fault or two of my own) and humor to difuse future potential arguments with Spouse...Nah, requires too much restraint]
So, how was the venue and the audience?

The place was cozy. I'm guessing 250 cap. There were probably 150 very polite and mostly quiet-during-the-songs fans in attendance. Not cramped at all. Like seeing Frank at your local watering hole, playing for beer tickets. It's all too much to explain- seeing my favorite artist standing right there in front of me, playing my favorite songs, it's such a treat. I ain't too good at writin stuff any how. It's simply magical and not something to be taken for granted for sure. |

I wish I would have met you guys. I had a great time at the show. He's amazing and I never realized how fluid of a guitar player he is. I play (guitar/sing) a fair amount of Pixies and FB songs and watching him perform the same songs 3 feet away was humbling. It was a great show. I was surprised by his jovial mood. I've never seen him that talkative. I don't know if you saw Frank touring for Dog in the Sand at the Showbox but he looked positively pissed off. I saw him in Portland a few times and he almost looked like he was just up there doing a job.
Anyway, great time, great show and an amazing feeling to watch my musical idol play solo right in front of me. Awesome!! |

Yeah, it seemed like he was actually having fun there in Olympia. That was so cool.
I was at the Showbox show you are talking about and I tell you what, I would rather get the real Frank than some phoney fucker smilin' his way through a pre-recorded set anyday. The man is real and we must deal.
