This album just keeps getting beter and better.
The top 3 for me right now are:
When The Paint Grows Darker Still In The Time Of My Ruin Fastman
When The Paint Grows Darker Still has been the biggest grower for me. This is one of my favortie Frank songs now. Simply amazing melody.
I got me so down I got me a headache. |

right now I would say if your poison gets you b/c i find it somehow comforting
then i really like the time of my ruin b/c i think it might be about fb's and violet's love story and I think that is so sweet. (ok that seems weird talking about FB songs and sweet in the same sentance) |

I've found recently that this is a great album to go to sleep to. I'll listen on my ipod in bed. I'm usually drifting off around the time Dog Sleep comes on. It's quite a soothing album to sleep to.

Going a bit off-topic here ... I think all of Honeycomb is about Frank and Violet's love story, or rather the end of his previous marriage and his move to his current one. Fast Man Raider Man seems much less personal, though there are certainly some lines here and there (as confirmed by Violet, who posted here that she was a museum curator "once upon a time").

This thread proves that Black should just put out as much as possible. Skeptics who call for cutting back on "filler" can never agree on what constitutes filler! A classic to one is anothers junk track. Amazingly Frank seems confident in all the tracks- and why shouldn't he? They all seem to resonate with one fan or another.
Completely random- but is it just me or did you hear a little of the Doors in "End Of The Summer" and "When The Paint Grows Darker Still?"
Haven't picked my favorites yet- I am hesitant to decide until at least 10 listens- especially with a FB record. My only complaint is that I would have liked him to work with the sound of Dog Sleep on a few more tracks- it definitely works. |

Exactly
i'm sure all 27 tracks can be found on some of these lists
maybe I'm not "discerning" enough or maybe i'm lucky but i dont "hate" any song on FMRM. I like them all to a greater or lesser degree. my favorites at this point are:
Fast Man Golden Shore In the Time of My Ruin (on almost everyone's list...) The Real El Rey
also
Fitzgerald Elijah Holland Town
it's so hard to pick |

I realized that I pretty much love every song on FMRM. It's hard to pick favorites, even though I already did... |

Yes, Dog Sleep gives us a new Frank. Perhaps he surprised even himself with that one. Gotta think we'll hear more from there on the next couple three albums.

Does anyone think "In The Time Of My Ruin" sounds like a John Lennon song? |

Today my fave is Elijah. I love it that he has so many name songs. If this song is in fact inspired by an old friend, I bet he thinks it's really cool too. I wish someone would ask FB about this. |

Someone here suggested (joked?) that Elijah is Jesus. I doubt that's the case, but it puts a whole new twist on the song.
I'm back to my fave being Don't Cry That Way. For me, this album doesn't have a lot of songs that I'd put in my Top Ten Frank Black Songs list, but that one would probably make it.
