Heh, yeah, I'm not terribly offended by this. Seems a rather blunt/stupid question to ask someone blind, but I neither know that he's blind nor does he seem to be offended.

I don't see it as a gaffe. If Bush didn't know the guy was blind, it was an honest mistake, not a gaffe, and certainly not insulting. If Bush did know he was blind, it was respectful, inclusive, good humor, and certainly not insulting. The "gaffe" is by those bloggers who think this is worthy of attention. Bush is having a good week and this is what you guys have got? That's "slow".

I think the main point (and granted it's not a big deal) is that the "gaffe" is an outcome of Bush's pompous fratboy style. It's the kind of mistake I would expect an oversprivledged teen to make.
Do you really think blind people would find it funny to be told to take their glasses off (joke or no joke)?

I think this individual took it in the spirit with which it was offered, either mistakenly or, as I said, with inclusive good humor. It wasn't terribly funny in any case, but there was no harm in it, except in the eyes who will resort to anything to do harm to Bush.

Bush is still solidly supported by at least a third of the country, and there is every reason to believe the opposition is soft, much of it consisting of Republicans protesting the extent to which Bush has pandered on issues sacred to the Democrats. With due respect to our international Frank Black friends, given the security and social policies of most of the rest of the world, I think America might do better than be concerned about what the international community and the Democrats find embarrassing. Aw poop. I was trying to be ironic. I actually think it's goofy to latch onto something this benign. My point in equating GW with Hitler was supposed to be a comment on how hip it is to make fun of the guy (while simultanously declaring him a dangerous mastermind of conspiracy).

Sorry I missed that Ed. I had previously noted your signature and the link to townhall.com in your profile, and even considered the apparent contradiction before I replied. It's just that certain statements like GW=Adolph really get me going. It's like a crusade for me, at least at times. Not really. Sunglasses are used by people with fine vision to keep out the sunlight (dunno if u know this). That is actually their everyday use.
Wheel chairs are not used by people who can walk perfectly. I think therein lies the difference. I also think it very moronic when people take everything bush says outa context to make him sound stupid. In fact it only makes others look stupid for continuously being so petty.
I do agree that Bush is a complete idiot, but it is not shown particularly well in this clip.
Save the jokes for his proper fuck ups.
