I would third the Maritimes, particularly Halifax. I'm sure you'd love it there, quite beautiful though they're too modest to have said so.

Frank,
Are there any sorts of qualities you prefer when you play?
Maybe that will help us reccomend places that you are more likely to like.
Anyway, it's very cool of you to ask your fans where to play.
:) Thanks |

Jeez, that show is scary. What has society come to that children have to watch this crap? Especially now that Sesame Street lost the Cookie Monster. What were they thinking???

Look no further than Southern Pines, North Carolina! Sure its a small town, but we've had Donna the Buffalo play at our lovely Sunrise Theater. Once in a while we get a quasi-big act in folk, bluegrass, country, etc. so I think the Sunrise would be perfect. Cat's Cradle isn't too far though and that would be just dandy as well.

Really cool of you to post asking fans where they'd like you to play! How about Fresno, CA? You actually played here once that I know of opening for the Ramones right after you put out "Frank Black" . It's been toooooo long buddy! We're soooo close to The Bay, The Coast & So-Cal. There'e two very suitable venues for you here. One's a small club, Club Fred (http://home.comcast.net/~dr.klaw/clubfred/home.htm). Many touring acts go throough there. The other's a small theater in the bohemian part of town (Club Fred's there too actually), The Tower Theater (http://www.towertheatrefresno.com/). A really neat art deco place seating 900. Hope to see you come through here soon. :)

Ann Arbor does a thing downtown every Summer, Top Of The Park where they have bands play (mostly local bands) and play movies on a giant screen. I don't think you've ever played Ann Arbor have you?

hey frank, not like you need any of our validation, but I am so stoked to hear about you opening up for the Tom Petty & The Hearbreakers. I saw them along with Pearl Jam recently. I have also seen each band several times before that gig. I was actually thinking at the time how cool it would be if you played a show with either one of them because you are all top noch artists that are known for really giving a crap and doing the whole live preformance thing so professionally. Anyway I am so stoked to hear about the deal in LA with you and Tom Petty. Anyway, I guess I can add this to my dream list for Minny?? Of course I am keeping a smaller venue show on the wish list too (yes I am just a greedy fan). Anyway, you rock. |

Once I stopped in WV to visit the Copper Fork Critters and I went to my favorite Sports Bar. Later they, the Pixies all, stopped there for a meal! I'm thinking it was out of their way. I would have fainted they walk into that place and I saw it. Keep alert in small towns!

Absolutely anytime...you are welcome here.
The Flying Anvil
We are 3 months old. We've hosted Cat Power, The Avett Brothers, Johnny Winter, Jimbo Mathus, a handful of others...Leon Russell is stopping by in August. Th' Legendary Shack Shakers just tore the roof off last night with the help of Dexter Rhomweber.
We are in Greensboro, NC conveniently located on both I-85 and I-40. The city has seen a rebirth in the last 4 years...we all love our town and are working hard to make it a fun place to be. It's working. We are just an hour or so from Chapel Hill, but frankly we are sick of driving there for all the good shows, so we opened up this joint...me and a handful of buddies. It's a gorgeous room and the crowds and bands are digging it. 650 folks can fit in the music hall. We've done more, but we prefer to keep it comfy and enjoyable. You can check us out online at www.theflyinganvil.com or email me direct...pete@theflyinganvil.com
Honestly, I wrote a list of musicians that I want to get on our stage. Some more realistic than others. We all must have goals. You are on this list...very near the top. I have to update it though. Joe Strummer and Johnny Paycheck have passed on. Say the word and we'll start getting ready.
Pete

Hey there sacred patrons!
Do you live in a city, town, or hamlet where Frank Black has never played a show? I'd like to hear about that; is there a cool club? A killer bar? A lonely little theatre? Contrary to the usual business, a musician is not ALWAYS looking for the biggest paycheck. We like to go to new places and have new experiences, go down a different road, see where showbiz might take us. By the way, I enjoy this website. While it is not affiliated with me officially, it saves me from having to get all webby and what not, and I really appreciate all of the members' participation. It does me a great service. Thank you.

Groningen in the north of the Netherlands would be an excellent choice. You should play at "De Oosterpoort". The sound there is absolutely wonderfull.

how about in Avondale Estates, Georgia
we have a great little venue which also doubles as a studio and vintage guitar/amp dealers. Conviently located about 10 miles east of Atlanta:
http://www.makearecordatlanta.com/
its a cool venue where you have to snake around some passages to emerge into a very little known stage.
..or go to East Atlanta, the E.A.R.L. is such a grat venue willing to have you
...OR for some reason you are already listed as playing at the STARLIGHT 6 drive-in-vasion on 9/2 with rocket form the tombs and reid paley- but others on this site doubt it. maybe you could really show up to that!!!
checkout who all is going to be there:
