Yeah, it's a tough one. Im not exactly asking for Brazil, just more goals. We had our lowest goal tally ever last season, and most of them came from set pieces. Maybe Johnson is the answer, his pace will at least give us more options going forward...

Yeah I think he will do OK for you. I am not a huge fan of Beattie. He's kind of effective, but he's just not a player I enjoy watching. I would much prefer to watch Johnson.

I think the Champions League places are gonna be Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal but the remaining European places could be anybody's this season.

I am telling you people, Tottenham will finish no lower than 5th. They are a very good side now.

Just found out that the referreee for Newcastle vs. Wigan on Saturday id Phil Dowd. He ttally wanted to screw us out of a League Cup final place against Arsenal in the CCup second leg. I was there. He turned down TWO blatant penalties for Jason Roberts and then in the league a gainst Blackburn at Ewood we had a perfectly good goal disallowed from our captain De Zeuuwwwwww (but that was the linesman's fault) cos it was ruled offside then in the build up to their goal one of our defenders was fouled. I was there and I saw this man ruin our chance of a European place. Well done Newcastle for the three points because with this ref you can safely bet on having them!!!

Oh and guy in a rover do you know how much away tickets are at Goodison Park? I couldn't make it last season and would like to come this season.

My tip of the season: Blackburn to get relegated at 25/1 with Coral. They're a pale shadow of the team that somehow managed to come 6th last season and I predict a monumental collapse.

How optimistic are you guys feeling about the coming season?

Stu, I reckon you will have a decent season. You might have lost a couple of key players but Jewell is an intellegent manager, he'll figure something out. Heskey is a fat turd who isn't worth the money you paid for him, but stick him up front with Camara and they will cause problems. I reckon you will finish comfortably in mid table.
Ps tickets are usually in excess of £30. Pretty pricey for a team as mediocre as us.

Homers, I cant see you finishing any higher than third. With Van Nistlerooy gone, I just cant see where the goals are going to come from.
Btw, do you think there is any truth in the Hargreaves rumours? It would seem a bit bizarre signing him after spunking £18 million on Carrick.

I just read that Bayern München issued a press bulletin in wich they categorically excluded any possibility of a Hargreaves transfer. Apparently ManU offered 25 million €.

Yeah they are not selling so I don't know who the hell we are gonna get now 'cos Villarreal gave us until today to sort out the Senna transfer.

Looks like it's Scholes and Giggs against Fulham then.

I think the best we can hope for is second. I'd be happy enough with that. I just want us to do better in Europe this year.

I actually think Saha will be one of the country's top scorers this season if he stays fit, and Rooney will weigh in with 15 too. There's 40 goals in our midfield too.

You think this season could be Fergies last? I reckon the Glazers are getting pretty impatient.

Just heard that Liverpool have signed Kuyt. He looked shite at the World Cup.

Yeah he looked pretty average to me too.

Fegie hasn't got long, no. He's a legend, but I'd be happy enough with him calling it a day after this season. Especially if they gave me the job.

Unfortunately no last minute goal from Heskey. Sounded like we should've won the match or at least got a draw.

Ahh well, we lost our first match last season and went on to do well.

How about Reading? 2-0 down, what a comeback to get 3-2!

That was a great comeback, though I think most teams will fancy themselves against Middlesborough this season. Pity Villa couldn't hold out for the win against Arsenal. I'll have a soft spot for Villa now I suspect.
Disappointed in Liverpool really, those are the games you have to win if you're going to be thereabouts at the end of the season.

Just got back from Goodison and I have to say we put in a very promising performance. Johnson looked good, his pace was a great outlet for us on the break and he linked up well with Beattie. I think those two could form a pretty effective partnership for us this season. Howard looked solid as well and made some important saves. Cant complain really considering the bizarre penalty decision that went in our favour.

Guess what Homer, right after Bayern stated they werent going to sell Hargreaves, he called in sick with a flu and missed yesterday's match against Bielefeld.

Looks like someone hasn't given up just yet.

Really? I am surprised the English press haven't picked up on that. Maybe I won't give up hope just yet then.

EDIT:

From Sky Sports website......

'Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has slammed Owen Hargreaves for continuing to reiterate his desire to join Manchester United.

The England international has emerged as a transfer target for The Red Devils after his impressive performances in The Three Lions' recent games.

Hargreaves has confirmed he is keen to quit the German champions to move to Old Trafford but Bayern continue to be a stumbling block in the switch.

The Allianz Arena outfit are determined to resist United's advances to keep the 25-year-old at the club and have now hit out at the player for his behaviour in trying to orchestrate his exit.

Hoeness is adamant the Canadian-born midfielder will not be leaving the club during the summer and has warned Hargreaves to accept the decision or face the consequences.

"I would advise him to keep his mouth shut now or else I will get really angry and that won't be very good for him," Hoeness fumed.

"I simply can't understand why he keeps going on about it after the two talks we had.

"He will not be allowed to leave and he must learn to accept the decisions of his bosses. That is simply a question of respect."

Hargreaves played no part in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Bochum and spent the game on the bench following a bout of flu'

This bit is my favourite, "I would advise him to keep his mouth shut now or else I will get really angry and that won't be very good for him,"

Brilliant! Is he the Incredible Hulk or something?

Nice one Middlesborough, beating Chelsea. I still think Chelsea will walk the league but it's nice to see that it's not as simple as they might've though it would be.

Has anyone read about the Makelele issue. He's retired from international football, but the French coach has called him up anyway. This means that if he doesn't go with the French squad, he'll miss two premier league games for each French game he doesn't play in. Even though he's retired. Unbelievable.

You mean the way I typed it or the actual issue? The actual issue makes no sense at all though, if I was Makelele I'd make sure I did nothing and scored as many own goals as I could. It's just utterly spiteful and piss poor man management.

Yeah, I mean the actual issue. It's unbelievable. If he's retired from international football then how is it that he's called up anyway with basically no way out of it?

It's ludicrous. The guy previously came out of international retirement along with Thuram and Zidane to help them qualify for the Wrold Cup, and this is how they repay him?

What do you have to do to be able to retire from the French national squad? Head butt someone in the chest?

He should turn up and just sit there and do nothing in training, or better still, play and score an own goal.

Plenty of transfer action... I'd have to say the Spurs did rather nicely for themselves. And now with Cole and Reyes gone, maybe the Gooners can start concentrating on winning....

Bit dissapointed we didn't get another midfielder.
