{I don't know a thread with this topic has already been created but...}
Frank has done a fair amount of cover songs over the years. But what song would you love to hear covered by Frank?
I've got it stuck in my head that he'd do an excellent version of "Cars" by Gary Numan

That's a great idea! On his new collaboration with EDF covering Planet Earth or Uncontrollable Urge or ANY Devo. Sweet idea. |

FB and EDF together are tailor made for Devo

Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon. Franks screaming would be perfect for the werewolf howls. I was dissapointed when the Pixies never tackled it for Enjoy Every Sandwhich, although Aint that Pretty at all came out sounding okay. Btw, does anyone else think Zevon is a fucking rock God?

I know he has already covered a couple Dylan tunes but has anyone heard Carribean Wind? The guitars and bass completley remind me of FB and the Cs. If you haven't heard it you should download it. Visualize Frank playing that. That would sound sweet.

I can see him covering "Groovy Times" by the Clash.
Agree with the DEVO suggestions. Might add "Through Being Cool"

FB has done a cover of ROAD MOVIE TO BERLIN for an upcoming THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS tribute CD.
I am not overly familiar with TMBG material - do you think that was a good choice, or are there other TMBG songs that would've been more suitable?

I think Frank probably really digs TMBG, but there are very few songs of their's that I see him covering without sounding ridiculously silly. RMTB is one of those. That one works.
I love TMBG. But, they are a silly-assed music playin' band. Right? |

I used to think that it would be interesting to here Frank/Pixies do 80's hit Feels Like Heaven (apparently by a band called Fiction Factory), it's the falsetto vocals I'm thinking of!! Other artists I've thought about before covering songs...Mike Patton doing Wham!'s I'm Your Man and Beck doing Blood, Sweat & Tears' Spinning Wheel (I had to Google to find the name of the band and song!). I was thinking before it would be interesting to hear a compilation album with bands doing songs that you hear something in that you think they could put there own personality too!

I'd love to here Frank cover an 80's cheesetastic power ballad. Maybe Wasteland or Tower Of Strength by The Mission.

Wow. "Day My Baby Gave Me A Surprise" is my favorite Devo song and nobody ever references that tune!
I saw Devo twice last year and they were excellent. Much better show in NYC than in SD, but that's because the crowd was better. Also, a band called Vic Thrill opened up for them in NYC and they were great. Their album, CE-5, is outstanding. Get it (and soon so you can say you knew who they were before they're really famous. There's a movie coming out about Vic).
There's a Talking Heads song called "The Book I Read" on Talking Heads '77 and for some reason, I think FB would nail it. There's about five songs on that album he could cover and would make awesome.
Off to Hawaii for my honeymoon! Have fun everybody.

Said Devo song is awesome, it's got brilliantly ridiculous lyrics.

i heard it's about a guy who's girlfriend is in a coma. when you think about it that way it's not really silly but pretty sad. but still sort of silly in a Devo way.

Excellent Devo tune, and FB could nail it as long as he hammers it out on guitar old school style and not the weird electronic whatever he did to Repo Man (my other fav 80's track. I was very disappointed by the remake, but understand he didn't do the music). That's a good choice of Heads tunes, too.
I'd love to hear him do "You Can't Break a Broken Heart" by the 6ths. Everytime I hear that song I imagine him singing it. |

"I Can Help" by Billy Swann would be fun to hear Frank play. It would also fit into the subject material Frank has been leaning towards lately. Peering out of the end of a bad personal period and feeling happy again is the best feeling ever. |

Just wanted to add my 2 cnets . . . I think Frank should cover 'I wanna be Black' by Lou Reed! It would be an awesome cover especially in 'Honeycomb' mode. And in covering it, it would remove the racial undertone of this song a bit. A man named Thompson singing a song named 'I wanna be Black' under the pseudonym Frank Black. There is some Irony there, no? |

Since Kurt Cobain was such a huge fan of Charles, it would have been interesting to see if he would have ever covered a Pixies or FB song in his career if he hadn't decided to clean his shotgun with his tongue. Accidents, eh?
