Sounds like a delightful drink.
So Crispy is up next. He hasn't been on here since his initial post. Hope he is still in.

I'm happy to say I don't hear the Kermit thing :) I really like this song. Hard for me to be more articulate about it, I suck at dancing about architecture :) But I'm definitely intrigued and will investigate (thanks for providing a useful link too).

so as homer said, crispy is up next, but he ain't been round, so unless he pipes up now, i think we can jump to kathryn, and crispy can fit in whenever he comes back. so kathryn, our world is your oyster. |

Die Die Die: good stuff. It does sound a bit like ATDi, except that ATDi sucks and they don't. I like Ashtray more than the other but both songs are pretty good. I keep saying how I love punk and all, despite knowing very few punk bands. So I've nevre listened to Fugazi, but this makes me wantr to listen to both them and Die Die Die.
Arthur Russell: now this is a name I've been meaning to check out for ages. He's mentioned everywhere and yet I had never had the chance to listen to his stuff. That's a cool song. I suspect he's done a lot of different stuff, but this is great for an introduction to his music.
Both bands correspond very weel to the kind of music I feel like listening to these days, so thanks to both of you.

Sorry, I was gonna do it last night but as Kathryn reappeared around the time you posted to say it was me, I assumed she would pop by this thread. I will do it when I get home later. Still not sure who to go for. I have many, many options.

You really hate them that much? They get amazing reviews. That album got a 9.2 on Pitchfork.

I'd listened to some of their stuff after reading a few positively raving reviews of their first album, and I wasn't convinced. This track didn't make me change my mind. Certainly very nice, but not for me.

It's a further proof that they suck IMO. No, really, Cheeseman has already tried many times to get me into M83, but I truly hate what the guy does.

good god. Although I think #3 might be pretty good.
Homer, I have more electronic records than "rock" stuff in my collection. It's just that I have good taste. I should send you the mix I did for the "genre-specific" cd swap, that's the electronic music I like. Wait, didn't I send it to you already? M83: I can't say I've ever listened to more than 2 or 3 tracks by them. Last year, or the year before, there was a very short prog-rock revival (fortunately it didn't last), and I hold M83 for responsible of it. That to me is inexcusable. Pitchfork: I don't really hate them, they're funny sometimes, but I never agree with their reviews.

Arthur Russell - I quite liked it after a couple of listens, but it did remind me of more recent Springsteen, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Is much of his stuff like that?
M83 - not my thing really, it sounds a bit like my mate playing about on his organ at the start. That's not a great beginning. I can't imagine it growing on me either.
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

Slowing? It's just getting started!
Because all good things come from Canada, I give you 2 songs by The Organ, an all-woman Vancouver, BC quintet, "Memorize the City" and "Love, love, love," from their May 2004 album "Grab that Gun."
They just toured w The New Pornographers, and played w the Von Bondies, and are on the same label as Neko Case, Mint Records. Derivative but fun. I hear Siouxie and Blondie, among others. http://download.yousendit.com/AB53F2CE0CD7BF53

Well, the album that the song was taken from (Another Thought) is. He did a similar album, electric w/loads of echo and distortion effects (World of Echo) which is a bit more experimental.
Aside from that, he produced and composed mostly dance and left-field disco/funk. Pretty varied output, really. AIDS death in '92.
