I would say a toss up between Manitoba and Fields of Marigold.

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I cant get the search function to work.

Any thoughts...

Topics eventually resurface. As long as it's not too recent, no problem. That said, I've found no similar topics.

That's a good/tough question. I think Golden Shore would be mine (not that I really care, I'm dead), but as far as albums already out... there are a few songs it could be. Horrible Day, tongue in cheek last joke. Whisky in your Shoes, if I go out in a blaze of alcohol fuelled glory. Men In Black if under suspicious circumstances. At the end of the World, if I ever get on a late night comedy show ala SCTV. Cold Heart of Stone if killed by my money lusting wife for insurance money.

In seriousness, I think you guys have nailed the three best ones. I might add End of Miles to that, but I think my choice, aside from Golden Shore, would be Manitoba. Or else Frank singing Deany Boy.

I wish my name was Ed. Unless he writes a song called 'Stu is Dead', but that's unlikely.

The song played at my funeral will depend on how I die: If I die in an airplane off the coast of Mendocino, they can play either "Coastline" or "Czar." If I die in a drunk driving mishap, they can play "Whiskey in Your Shoes"... and if I die of shellfish poisoning, "The Shrimp Song" will do. Oh yes... If the majority of funeral goers feel I've gone to hell (and people are welcome to take a vote), play "six-sixty-six..." And if it's decided that I've gone to heaven, play "Dog Gone".

I wouldn't want any music at my funeral, but if the funeral home required it, and required that it be a Frank Black song, I'd like "Can I Get A Witness".

"Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." JOHN 15:14

My funeral song will be (as in it's actually in my will already) the BBC Sessions version of In Heaven.

I'm only sorry I won't be there to see the looks on their faces.

No "White Noise Maker"? I love that song.

"At the End of the World" is also an excellent choice.

I like "Two Spaces".

Maybe I'll just have people handing out copies of various Frank albums on the way out. Not the ones which were mine, of course. They'll be in my coffin with me!

The first time I heard the version of Mr. Grieves on the popular Barfly solo performance, my immediate reaction was that it would be perfect for this exact situation.

That song...it starts and ends with "hope everything is all right," which is about the best thing I can imagine hearing from someone at their own funeral. In between:

"Pray for a man in the middle..." - you're not alive but you aren't quite gone yet.

"Do you have another opinion?" - now that he's dead is he not such an asshole anymore?

"Got finally off to finally dozing" - pretty self-explanatory, that one.

"You can cry, you can mope, but can you swing from a good rope?" - it's easy to get depressed over a death; here's a challenge to "swing" back into "good" things quickly.

Nothing is ever something.
