I found this site curiously compelling... a webcam of an eagle's nest. Sit through the ad, it (i.e. the webcam after the ad) is worth a checkout:

The Eagle Cam is awesome.
There are some other cool bird cams here on Mt. San Jacinto. Nothing as good as the Eagle Cam, but not bad:

I heard some radio station idiot call Lou Reed a one-hit wonder the other day. And then he went on this rant this morning because some guy had complained in the Globe & Mail that record labels were giving record deals to Canadian Idol stars instead of indie artists. A good blood boil is a nice way to wake up.

See, I disagree strongly with that. I mean, I know what you're saying, but the point, in my mind, is there should not be two markets. There should be no division of good music vs. commercial music. Good stuff should be the stuff that sells a lot. They SHOULD be in competition for the same markets.
But I know that's an idealism and that the world doesn't work that way and that by and large the masses could care less and ... bla bla, so you're right, but I wish it weren't that way.
