I'm goin' oldies and I'm voting for "Somewhere over the Rainbow"
...even if it's some big Hawaiian dude singing along an ukulele. http://reading.new21.org/files/asfs/sor_ff.asf It just tugs at our human desire of hope and dreams. |

What about Free Bird or Stairway to Heaven? They're in the best song in the world category.

The reason Vanilla Ice bombed after Ice Ice Baby was because he couldn't handle the fact he had written the greatest song ever.
True story.

His exhortation to check out the beat while his DJ revolved it will not be forgotten by fans of classic music for centuries to come.

"Pretty O.K." by the Wrens. Seriously.
It's at least the greatest rock song in the world.

It's a toss up between Distance Equals Rate Times Time by the Pixies and Night Fever by the Bee-Gees.
reasons why: DERTT = cuz it's such a filler of a song and seems tossed together without much thought
Night Fever = cuz it makes me dance
Let 'em riot. We're Sonic-fuckin'-Death Monkey. |

It goes without saying that this is a tough but intriguing discussion. Top of the tree I would have 'the world is turning on' by the Pooh Sticks. This would be followed by 'Sweet baby James' also performed by the Pooh sticks. My reasoning is that their just infectious, beautiful pop songs which always make me feel better about everything in general. |

Reminds me of the time we used to play the longest songs on the jukebox just to piss off the pub.

The original Townes Van Zandt version of 'Pancho & Lefty'. Had a voice as oaky and mellow as a fine malt whiskey. |
