I was at Old Trafford the other week and Ronaldo is one of the quickest players with the ball I've ever seen.
I was disappointed with PSV tonight. Fair play, Liverpool, but Eindhoven were sooo slack. |

I only saw the first half but the so-called defending for the two goals was shocking. Great finish by Riise though.

Have you seen the situation in which Lucio "fouled" Kaká and the referee gave Milan the penalty? What a joke! You can't play the ball any more clearer than that. Good that Bayern came back in the last minute. |

Yeah looking good for Bayern. They are certainly involved in some exciting games in Europe now.

Of course the game was blacked out in the US (I think). I hope they rebroadcast it. I was watching the scoreboard and thought it was a hockey game for a minute!

What a disaster. Roma wasn't in the game from the very beginning. And ManU was. Big time. 7-1. That sucks! |

It wasn't even a good match to watch, too one-sided. Roma just didn't happen. The defense was an wide open and the keeper a always too far away from his own goal. Watch a best scenes feature.
Ronaldo was spectacular. |

Roma are a bunch of nappy-headed hos.
By the way, Jeff, the game was on here -- on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain. Do you not get it on your Fox Sports regional channel?
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

In the first 5 minutes or so Roma were pounding the goal with long range efforts. I thought "this isn't gonna be United's night." Then ManU went three up in eight minutes. I didn't watch the second half, I was watching Life On Mars.
Chelsea got a last minute winner too.

They usually show Champion's League on ESPN2 on my local Comcast, but my brother-in-law said it was blacked out on Comcast. But he lives on an entirely different coast, so maybe he's full of beans.
My Tivo will tell me the truth when I get home. It sounds like the highlight show is the way to go anyway.

What is it with Chelsea and last minute winners? That makes about 15 games this season they've won in the last minutes or in injury time. When will the opposition learn to keep playing?

Yeah, I know about Chelsea and last minute winners. Two seasons in a row too! It still hurts to think about it... I also know about not playing until the end. Wigan have dropped 24 points from winning positions throughout this season! 24! We'd be in a bloody Champions League place!
Rant over, credit to United and Chelsea tonight.
Oh and Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world. No doubt.

I despised Cristiano Ronaldo after the World Cup (and I'm not even a Brit!), but I have to admit, he's shown a lot of balls this year, coming back in to an environment that he knew would be hostile, and putting on such a show. And either he's diving a lot less or no one can even catch him anymore, not sure which. I'd love to see him live - I bet TV doesn't do him justice.

Did you know that Ronaldo has never scored a Champions League goal? He has scored 16 Premiership goals this season from midfield. You just know that he is going to break his duck soon. Rooney also hasn't scored one since his debut hat-trick against Fenerbache. He is also due one.

Told you :)
I stopped cheering after 5 and started laughing. I wasn't laughing at Roma (they are my second team after all), but I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. Even Evra came on at right back and got in on the act.
I was confident before the game, but not THAT confident.
I was gutted Chelsea got through though.

3 English teams in the Semi's.... shows how great the Premisership is these days. I do hope Liverpool beat Chelsea though... I wouldn't mind them winning if it weren't for their twat of a manager. Liverpool to win it, if not then Man U. Benitez would look great with 2 European Cups under his belt, you cannot argue with that record. Also, even though I don't particularly like Man U, I reckon Fergie deserves another one. How's that for diplomacy!

With all the billionaire investors buying Premiership clubs these days, this is pretty much the expected result. At this point , I'd be fine with Liverpool finishing as champion again.....

I don't think they will get past Chelsea this time.
My prediction is a Manchester United V Chelsea final. Same with the FA Cup (and league of course, effectively)

A Utd vs Liverpool final would be much better than a Chelsea vs Utd final, in terms of history and rivalry. I was always a Liverpool fan when I was a kid... but if this was the final then I really wouldn't mind who won. I dunno. I used to like Chelsea before they were taken over and that Portugese twat joined (nothing against Portugese, just don't know how to spell his name and can't be arsed to find out).
I am in the mood to get drunk. Not heard Bluefinger drunk yet, so might have to have a few beers and fuck off the neighbours.

We'll look forward to seeing you in the drunk thread then.
I'd rather see a United vs Liverpool final too. The last few cup finals Liverpool have been in have been incredible to watch, just hope this is as exciting if they get there.

Quick before the game starts: my bet for the final is ManU/Liverpool
I have to admit that the excitement is a bit gone for me, with Roma and Bayern out. Part of me wants the all-english phalanx to be cracked, but don't have too much love fore Milan either. So maybe I can watch the games in a more relaxed way and do what my father always does: hope that the team who plays the better football will win. |

Well Ronaldo's "scored" now! I supposed he'll take it however it comes.
Now, can someone explain this aggregate thing to me? It applies only as a tiebreaker right? So if the complete amount of goals scored added together for each team ends up being a tie, then the team that scored the most away goals wins the tiebreaker? What happens if Roma wins 3-2 at home? Do they do overtime, or a replay, or what?
Also, did they just decide on this rule because football is such a gruelingly long sport with very few subs and an assload of games to play (i.e. to cut down on the minutes played and wear and tear)? It seems to me that football is one of the sports where home field is not nearly as much of an advantage os other team sports, aside from the crowd. Especially in Champions league, I would think most of the grounds are pretty equal in quality. Am I wrong?
Also also, spell checker suggested that "assload" should be two words. I disagree.

Yeah that is when the away goal rule comes into play. It can only be extra time now if Milan (not Roma) win 3-2.
They have this rule to avoid replays, as the fixture lists are already packed. They also do it to avoid away teams from defending the whole time, thus ruining the game for the spectator.
Anyway, I was delighted with the result in the end. Before the game I wouldn't have been too happy with that, but seeing where we were at half time, it ended up a great result.
I am confident now that we can get a score draw in Milan. It will be tough though. Hopefully Gattuso will be out for them.

Nice job by United. I thought they were toast after falling behind and not looking sharp in doing so. Rooney seems to have his act together now, and with Ronaldo also playing well, they are the one side that can win with less than airtight defending. I'd sure like to see Liverpool beat the snot out of Chelski today, should be a good one....

So if the score is 3-2 at Milan at the end of regulation, then they play golden goal extra time? How weird that you would play overtime in a game that is not tied. But I do understand that they have way too many fixtures to play.

Extra time yes, golden goal no. That rule doesn't exist any more, thank god. It would be overtime, and in case of a still tied score at the end of it, penaltys. |

They have a great chance at Anfield, but I wouldn't put it past Chelsea to knock in an away goal to spice things up. No predictions from me about Milan v Man.U because my gut feeling tells me...no no no, I best shut up.
Congrats to Celtic, Llama. Will Lennon be a big loss? (silly question?) |

I can...if they can hit Drogba with a late tackle in the last 5 minutes. That guy seems to be able to score at will in the last minutes of a game.
Crouch just needs to give Terry some chin music in the box. He'd only have to raise his arm to chest height to do it!
But hey, sorry, I'm a hockey player, so I have to take into account that these guys don't wear pads.
"He's big, he's red, his feet stick out the bed..." - go Crouch!
