On a more positive note for Arsenal, Henry has signed a new deal hasn't he? I think I heard somewhere that it's a £130,000 a week, four year deal. I am pleased with it as I like to see top players in the English leagues. The guy is quality and a joy to watch (except when he scores against you!).

If Barca had got him, they would have won the Champions League again next season for sure. They may well do anyway.

I want to know what Ronaldo said to him before he took it.
If Celtic get outclassed like that in the knock-out stages when it really matters to the opposition, they'll be out.
United need to learn to make teams pay in Europe.
That Nakamura is a nice little player actually. Not sure he will hit two free-kicks again quite like the two he has hit aginst us, but fair play to him, this one especially was absolutely perfect.

hey! I am celebrating with red wine and stollen cake. We were lucky, no doubt about it, Utd were really poor in front of goal. Carrick was anonymous.....I didn't even realise he was on the pitch till the 85th minute.
Nakamura hits freekicks pretty good, quite often. Maloney who was standing with him before he took it is also an excellent free kick taker.
And Sahahahaha? I expect he's getting the 'hairdryer' treatment. Nice to get through to the group stages for the first time as well. Some extra cash to help us extend our lead over Rangers.

Well yeah i did say before the game that I would take a loss here if it meant a win on Sunday. I just don;t think it is gonna happen sadly.
Got a trough one after that too against Everton, though I think we will do them.

My folks house will be divided that day against the toffees. We'll beat them though. You hear me Guy in a Rover?!! 2-0.
As for Chelsea, I don't think i'll be able to watch it sober. Biggest game of the season so far, homers. Fingers crossed. |

why did I think you were a Villa fan fbc?
utd's reaction to this game should give them a better chance against a Chelsea team who aren't exactly firing either.

So...
Celtic Glasgow - Milan AC FC Porto - Chelsea PSV Eindhoven - Arsenal Lille - Manchester Utd AS Roma - Lyon Real Madrid - Bayern Munich Inter Milan - FC Valence FC Barcelona - Liverpool
I haven't followed the group phase closely, but I'd say:
Milan AC Chelsea Arsenal Man U Lyon Real Inter Milan FC Barcelona

We've got a chance I think - if we can get a couple at home and maybe, just maybe for once hang on in Milan. A couple of signings in the transfer window perhaps? Milan aren't doing that well just now, but seem to have a few injuries who'll be back by then.
tbh, the thought of Gary Caldwell against Kaka doesn't fill me with hope.

Quarter finals, first leg. Here we go:
AC Milan - Bayern München (03.04.2007) PSV Eindhoven - FC Liverpool (03.04.2007) AS Roma - Manchester United (04.04.2007) FC Chelsea - FC Valencia (04.04.2007)
Let's see...
Bayern will beat Milan this time. They are back on track in the league and beat Madrid. Milan played poorly against Celtic and was just lucky to beat them in the end.
Liverpool over Eindhoven for sure.
AS Roma will beat ManU. Which is whishfull thinking at it's best, since the Rome has a young team which is far away from playing on a constant level. And ManU seems to be awfully strong at the moment. (This should be a tough call for Homer, or a win-win situation...)
And finally... Chelsea. Or Valencia. Can't decide. Chelsea.

Wow. My predictions were stunningly bad. Happens for trying to discuss something you don't know shit about.
As for the quarters, I'll say Bayern - Liverpool - Man U - Valencia. I suggest you strongly to bet for the exact opposite.

Yeah I would rather lose to Roma than anyone else, but United are by far my favourite team (Roma are just my second favourite, and there is a huge gap in what they mean to me).
I think we will beat them - just.
I also think Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern will go through (though the last one is the toughest of all to call)

Hey, I had no idea we talked about soccer in this board!
Go Man U! Or whoever's not Chelsea!
Flame away!
- ps - I do know my football, just wanted to stir the pot ;)
Also, Lille is the whiniest, pussiest team I've seen, and I'm glad they're out. Well except for Arsenal and and Italian team.

Damn, I thought I was going to get hate and venom.
True story, my wife got verbally assaulted by a British Arsenal fan in Washington D.C. of all places. She was wearing a ManU scarf, and this tourist goes out of his way to mock her. It was hilarious, but confusing at first because so few people follow football in the US that we were surprised anyone would even recognize what she was wearing. We don't really do scarves for our sports team over here.

I've been away from the entire forum for a long time, nice to see there's a thread on this.
I have to admit I'm a Liverpool supporter first of all. I'd love/hate a Liverpool - ManU final, its probably on the cards too since we've never met in Europe.
Liverpool - PSV
I don't think it'll be as much of a pushover as some people are saying, but thankfully Alex is out and I'd expect us to get through
Roma - ManU
Roma are on form, their front three are playing really well (although I was confused to see Mancini playing on the left of the three, I remember him as a right back/winger) and United will still be having problems up front by then. Tough call, I'd say Roma.
Valencia - Chelsea
Valencia have a good squad and play some attractive football, Navarro isn't that much of a loss for them and I'd love to see them beat Chelsea (because they place nice stuff), but I'd still have to go for Chelsea here (because I want to beat them again).
Milan - Bayern
Bayern are going to win, Milan are a joke this season. Even with those 8 points back they'd still be miles off the pace. |

Hey Otherfellers, you seem to be quite an expert: we picked the same teams to make it to the semis.
And yes, Roma's Mancini is one of the most versatile players I have ever seen. He is playing so well as left striker, like he had never done anything else. And what a goal he scored against Lyon. I sure hope he stays with the team and settles his recent beef with Totti. |

Then you will both be proven wrong (I hope).
Did you know that Ronaldo has never scored a Champions League goal? He has scored 16 Premiership goals this season from midfield. You just know that he is going to break his duck soon. Rooney also hasn't scored one since his debut hat-trick against Fenerbache. He is also due one.
