after reading 'fool the world' it made me think of the dynamics the band must have been going thro on this night/tour. you wouldn't have guessed that anything was arry with their performance....maybe only the absence of gigantic, but kim did sing into the white... sure, there's no chit chat between the members, but i guess it just shows how prefessional they were....they had a job to do, and they did it. if the music wasn't so fantastic, you could accuse them of being robotic and unfeeling in a way...
and i agree that bob looks terified and excited at the same time...i know i would have had to wear diapers if i were him.
i've already booked in another viewing tomorrow...with being on holiday, it's been 3 weeks!

My friend's who got to see the Pixies in the 90's tell me about them just banging out the songs with hardly a breath in between. Even with the negativity in the group, it was still about the music, putting on a show for the paying public. Getting the money and the job done. I admire this alot. |

just realised how incredible the version of velouria is - kim's harmonies in the last minute or so are incredible on this version...send shivers down my spine... absolutely brilliant. and don't think i've ever seen frank so animated on the guitar as on into the white - spose he doesn't have to sing so he can go bananas, but he's thrashing round like he's in a heavy metal band... and one more thing - what the hell is joey doing at the start of his vamos solo - apart from that, vamos is stomping, but that first bit of the solo is just crap.....

=) Joe does seem to lose the plot for a time during Vamos. He tries to strum a couple of chords completely out of time with the rhythm, but we'll let him off. Kim's singing is divine. I don't mean to be sexist or anything of the sort, but it has to be done. There's something in her voice during 'Into The White' that turns me on big time. Her posture, that smile at the end. Humana Humana!
What does she sing during the chorus of Hangwire? It doesn't look like "hangwire", and her words after "every morning and every day.." aren't "I bossanova wit'ya". |

Whoever is seeding this, thanks a great deal. I will do my part to share it as I get it and when I've got it. Which doesn't look like it will be any time soon.
Many thanks. |

OK. Will do so this afternoon right after work. I haven't been on purelivegigs.com except for registering, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. |

Would you say this version is worth downloading if I already got the version posted earlier? Is it a big impovement on quality?

Stu, I can't compare the two versions, but here is what benji had to say about them a few days ago:

i would say this is definitely worth downloading compared to the version already posted. the other one had good sound, but the picture had some major issues with it. the VHS this PAL copy is taken from is obviously lower generation and the transfer from VHS to computer was done much better - no pixelation etc which is a major problem with the NTSC copy.... sure, 3.8GB is alot to nab, but it is honestly a far superior copy.
i think some of the people i sent copies out to have both - hopefully some of them will back me up.

My pleasure, benji.
It's the least I can do, after you started spreading the love (in dvd form) from the middle of australia to all over the world.
(Ok, I could also send you the promised postcard, but lets make it one step after the other... ) |

I've just joined the seeding, it's going between 15-30 kBytes/sec
I gave my ntsc version to a friend, but he only watched the beginning and complained about picture quality :))

Right, here is the artwork that was with the one posted on ZOMB but with the chapters changed to suit this one with the intro. Apart from that it's exactly the same. Brixton Artwork
I hope there are no spelling mistakes! |

So I'm a newbie to the whole torrent thing, but it seems that Utorrent only works for windows....I am currently using a mac (Tiger OSx 10.4.7). Is there a similar client that is compatible with a mac? I normally wouldn't bother (even though I am computer functional) except that the show sounds like it's a real gem! Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys. |

Take your pick. I usually use Bits on Wheels (visually pleasingish), but recently have been dabbling with Tomato (simple and sweet). Azureus is what some mac heads swear by.
Azureus = http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php Bits on wheels = www.bitsonwheels.com/intro.html or Tomato = http://sarwat.net/bittorrent/ |

Ok so I just downloaded Tomato, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to download the file. Every time I right click to save the link to 'Pixies - Brixton Academy, London (1991-06-26) PAL Pro-Shot.torrent' in the attached files section of the page at the bottom it just saves an HTML file to my desktop...I've tried opening that and dragging it into tomato but it doesn't seem to be working? I also plugged in the website of the thread hoping it would pick up on the file, but to no avail. Any suggestions (such as the right way to do things? ha) |

Have you become a member over at purelivegigs.com? If you have, try using Bits on wheels (i used it to download this dvd. edit: no i didn't. it was another, but i still recommend). Here are the steps I take:
1. Go here: http://www.purelivegigs.com/forums/showthread.php?p=32250 2. Click the link: Pixies - Brixton Academy, London (1991-06-26) PAL Pro-Shot.torrent
a torrent file (like above) should appear on the desktop.
3. Double click the torrent file and a menu pops up asking where you want to save the visual/audio download. Once you've selected where, Bits on Wheels should automatically kick in and start to download.
Using Tomato, choose 'Open Torrent File' and select the Pixies torrent file you grabbed from PureLiveGigs. |

At first I wasn't sure if it was much of an improvement from the ZOMB one but after watching it all the way through yesterday and comparing it, it is clearly miles better. Thanks a lot.
I had forgotten how great the show actually was too. I am always amused by some of the faces that Charles pulls when he's singing!

yes indeed. when i saw the copy on zomb i wasn't going to seed this version, but i thought i'd download it anyways just to compare, and once i did and saw how much better the PAL copy was, i felt i had to upload it. sure, it was a pain, but i didn't want an inferior copy to be widely circulated when i had this version just sitting there...
but glad ya like it.... this show desrves to be officially released. i find that it just shits all over any of the reunion shows that have been taped, and thay play such an amazing setlist!

Personally I don't mind what the cover looks like. It's the DVD that counts. That said, I'd still probably make one if I were good enough. If anyone does make one I'll happily use it.
