Making Artwork for CDs
I think that would be the greatest job ever. You get to the office on Monday morning, go over to your desk and computer area, and there's a Cd on your desk and a note "Here are a few tracks from the Pixies album that's coming out next year. Listen to it and see what you can come up with". So you have some coffee, pop in the CD, and go on the computer and try different fonts and colors. Maybe after lunch you go over to the library to check out some art books for inspiration.

Woulda HAVE to be music related. Apart from the reeeeeally obvious "rockstar" choice, I'd love to score for films and video games, that'd be awesome! I guess my dream job would basically be "be Mark Mothersbaugh". Fronting Devo every now and then would be an added bonus!

So basically being perpetual a student? That would have been my choice. I had to look the word sinecure up, so you must be learning something Oisin ;).

You don't get paid for being a student, so unless that changes... I think the Dublin FB posse should be more proactive. You do it. |

If you lived in a perfect world and just kept getting a series of grants to basically fuck around like a couple of people I knew in college, well I'd be up for it, maybe a Masters in Illustration, some print courses, maybe some batik?

I love basketball, so to be an NBA player would be amazing. Or, to own a massively cool recording studio, or engineer the sessions would be very good. Or, to be a Sports Illustrated swimsuit photographer would be up there.
I know a guy who has started several different businesses and sold them-very cool guy, and he has his dream job right now starting a clothing company that he hopes to sell to Playboy or big investors once it gets bigger. He has this tricked out bus that he and his work-for-free college students cruise around in with beautiful models on the weekends, stopping at the hottest clubs and have the hot models dressed up in his clothes patying on the bus with club-goers they pick up. Or at least that is as much as I understand it from what he said. Sounded fun.
I tend to think of human beings as huge rubbery test tubes, too, with chemical reactions seething inside |

I think that's an even better idea- to just be student forever, or at least ten years or so. Go to some classes starting around 9:30, go to the library in the afternoon, maybe there's a someone giving a lecture in the evening, then go home and read and drink some gin.

Probably so, but I still reckon I would enjoy it more than 99% of other jobs at least. Especially at a decent indie label.

good idea, starmekitten, that would be great, even to work at one, most people wouldn't even bother you cause they just wanna look around and be left alone anyway.
When I was a kid I wanted to be a child star. I wanted them to make a sequel to "the Goonies" Sean Astin and me replacing Corey feldman or that chinese kid, and a new song by Cyndi Lauper. I used to hope that I'd meet Corey Haim somewhere, and we'd become friends and he'd help get me in a movie. I guess he's clean now, but for all the drugs he's not doing he's making up for w/ food. I saw him on VH1 and he's HUGE.

screenwriter/director, although i don't think i could handle the criticism.
when i think about it, playing major league baseball still sounds fun. shortstop or third base sounds right to me. probably better suited for bench but hey, it's a dream job!

I think it would be a career that completely changed every 2-5 years. I really like my job now. But I do secretly wish I could have been a rockstar, but it's definately not genetically wired for that. Maybe a Sci Fi writer, but I get too distracted. I also secretly wish I could be a poet that has my work discovered after I die. There was a poet in colonial New England that was discovered by her grandchildren or something like that. I think that's cool. |

I have to say centerfielder for the Red Sox (batting third).
Being more reasonable, statistician for the Red Sox. I really wanted to do that as a kid, but thought it impossible. Now I know people with those kind of jobs, and dammit I could have done it if I had thought it was possible. |
