Any idea why that is? Could it be because you're getting your life together post-divorce, going to school, getting married?

1. My ex is just a jerk. He said I would never be able to live without him. I think my son is an easy target for him to intimidate. 2. My mom is less forgiving than I am. She thinks that I should stop letting his dad see him. So, I do not talk to her about it anymore. 3. Let me clarify: My kids do not know why I left their dad. They don't need to know. What I think about their dad is not the issue. When I say "sway" I mean I do not agree with parents that tell their kids about how "awful" the other parent is, that just confuses kids and makes them feel they have to choose sides. It's not you I don't like

I'm quite familiar with this.

By "get him" if you mean see him, you are right, it's a bad idea. You can't just go unilaterally ignoring the court order.

Oh I am sure they can figure it out. It doesn't sound like he's trying to hide his lousy behaviour.
Good luck. Just support your kid.

Might as well rename this "The Ask Jimmy and Kate Thread." Kathryn has delivered more useful and meaningful advice in one evening than Jimmy did in the last several years.
Jimmy's more entertaining, though, for what it's worth.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

coasty, you're funnier than sean sometimes! I love that, the idea that a girl could do the job that I do!! kathryn has been adorable at "giving advice", don't you think? But, like a kitten dressed up as a train conductor, it's only make-believe. I wouldn't want any of my younger readers, like mr. bisquitdoughhead, to get the wrong idea and think that women's advice should be taken seriously. "More useful and meaningful" indeed, coast you kill me!!

jimmy, I still dunno this Kate you keep referring to. This is the only Kate I know:

Dear jimmy,
You've misrepresented yourself a number of times on here -- your name, your "friend's paintings," etc. -- and yet I still feel like I can trust you. Why is that?
Anyway, my real question is: Why do I have such a hard time eating sensibly at dinner time and throughout the evening? I'm training for a marathon, and I'm trying to lose weight so I don't have to carry so many pounds all those miles. I eat a great breakfast (most important meal of the day!), I eat a nutritious lunch (often a salad with lots of veggies and a small portion of chicken or pork for protein), and have sensible snacks (low-fat string cheese, veggies with hummus, pistachios). And then I come home and eat two huge servings of dinner and then start looking for other stuff to scarf down, to the point where I'm uncomfortably full when I go to bed -- every night. Why am I doing this?
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Dear coast, I'm confused by your question, and I'm confused by your problem. Seriously, the first question that comes to my mind is: does coasty really wanna run this marathon? Or are you doing it because of someone you know? There's nothing wrong with doing it because someone you know is running it too, I'm just saying. I personally hate running and I hate altering my eating habits and I hate string cheese, low-fat or not. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to pinpoint some deep, dark motivation for your eating habits. You probably you spend more time eating dinner because you enjoy dinnertime with your family.

I hope jimmy doesn't mind me helping here. The increase in appetite does come with increased mileage - just not really at the mileage you're currently at. So unless you've significantly increased your activity levels in other ways (eg cycling), you're just being a greedy bastard.
It also depends on what you're stuffing down your throat. Fruit is good, chocolate and crisps are bad.
I also find that I eat more at home in the evening if I'm bored. Maybe take up crochet as a relaxing but stimluating hobby.

jimmy,
I just finished two bottles of hard cider, and I'm opening a third right now. And you know what, I think I'm starting to figure out the issue with my evening appetite.
As for the marathon, yeah, it's for me. Who runs a marathon for somebody else? I don't even begin to follow your drift there.

dear jimmy
after 3 days on pseudophed it feels like my face and eyes are being scrubbed dry from the inside out, like tiny blue-collar workers are scratching at my sinuses and the inside of my head. but if i stop taking it i can't breathe or sleep. jimmy, do you know why our 21st century pharmacology hasn't advanced beyond this? thank you, jimmy.

Well, there's charity, for one, like floopy said. But I was thinking maybe, say, your wife was into running and wanted you to do it too, or a friend or family member, you know.

Kat, that stuff sucks; I mean it works, but the side effects ( panic & dread ) are too strong. A friend of mine heard from someone in detox that if you get a Benzadrex inhaler ( over the counter, $5.99 ) and then break it open and eat 1/3 of the cotton inside, it will clear your sinuses and give you 8 to 10 hours of energy. I tried it one Sunday morning and cleaned my house and sent myspace messages to all my friends explaining why I'm glad to have them in my life. It was hard falling asleep that night so around midnight I took a little morphine and that helped.

The picture above was practice- I never knew how to post pictures on the forum, but now I've got a photobucket account.
I didn't post that picture for any particular reason. By the way, it's my bedroom when I was in high school ( those are branches from my parents' blueberry tree, and my old cape Cod shot glasses on the shelf ).
Does anyone know why that red X is next to the picture?

So that isn't a painting but a photograph? I have such a tenuous understanding of things artistic, jimmy.
"panic & dread"? due to pseudophed? No. More like too wide awake to sleep. Please don't suggest abusing drugs legal or illegal....though you just reminded me that over-the-counter, non-scrip morphine is another beautiful thing about Canada.

Congrats. You win a fabulous prize to be announced at a later date and not to rival floop's prize for winner of Canadian forum member survivor. Some restrictions apply.

I agree, Carl. Even if I stopped liking FB, I wouldn't come here any less.
The only other forum I've spent a lot of time at is Throwing Music ( Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh, 50'Wave ).
It's so different over there. For one thing, it's run by KH & her husband; for another, it's mostly women.
And while I think 90% of the people there are cool & friendly, the overall tone is very strict- everyone there is terified of offending anyone else, and especially afraid of saying the wrong thing in front of KH and Billy. There's almost no humor. And when members do make jokes they're mostly harmless & lame.
