This from Pitchfork, for fans of the band.

Mclusky Compile Singles, Rarities Set

Rob Kleckner and Amy Phillips report:
The best part about calling it quits with your short-lived band is putting together a compilation set, one that you'll be reaping the rewards from for years to come. Generations from now, people won't even remember that Mclusky had real, full-length albums, but they'll all have their trusty copy of the anthology Mcluskyism, due out February 27 on Too Pure.

The collection will be divided into three sections: A-sides, B-sides, and C-sides. Now I'm no rocket scientist, but I've been looking at my "Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues" single for hours and I can't seem to find the C-side. Regardless, you can collect this music in two ways: a 3xCD set for the Mcluxurious and a single disc of just the A-sides for the Mcfrugal.

Sing it!:

>>A-sides:

01 Joy
02 Rice Is Nice
03 Whoyouknow
04 Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues
05 To Hell With Good Intentions
06 Alan Is a Cowboy Killer
07 There Ain`t No Fool in Ferguson
08 1956 and All That
09 Undress For Success
10 That Man Will Not Hang
11 She Will Bring You Happiness
12 Without MSG I Am Nothing

>>B-sides:

01 Rock Vs. Single Parents
02 Why I Don`t Believe in You
03 Balbos Theme
04 Viva Minor Legends
05 Whiteliberalonwhiteliberalaction
06 The Murphy Syndrome
07 Provincial Song
08 Here Comes Joe
09 Love Song For a Mexican (2nd Version)
10 Rope!
11 No Covers
12 Beacon for Pissed Ships
13 The Habit That Kicks Itself
14 Exciting Whistle-Ah (Demo)
15 Random Celebrity Insult Generator (SBN Session)
16 Hymn for New Cars
17 Join the Mevolution
18 The Salt Water Solution
19 The All Encompassing Positiv
20 The London Whine Company
21 The Gift of Slight
22 Dave, Stop Killing Prostitutes

>>C-sides:

01 Love Song for a Mexican
02 Colour March
03 Working From Home
04 Collagen Rock
05 The Difference Between Me and You Is That I'm Not on Fire
06 Reformed Arsonist Seeks Child Bride
07 Be Average to Eachother
08 Cradling
09 Bipolar Bears Take Seattle
10 KKKitchens, What Were You Thinking
11 Lost Consonants
12 Comeuppance, Come
13 See Them, Smell Them, Sign Them
14 Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
15 That Man Will Not Hang (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
16 1956 and All That (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
17 Falco Vs. the Young Canoeist (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
18 You Should Be Ashamed, Seamus (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
19 Gareth Brown Says (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
20 Rice Is Nice (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
21 Collagen Rock (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)
22 To Hell With Good Intentions (Live At ULU - 26.11.04)

In a press release, guitarist Andy Falkous candidly discussed Mcluskyism, offering such gems as: "The A-sides disc was a great idea anyway, except for 'Joy' (a lot of people rate it, and I'm none of them), although there remains a slight regret that we never actually got to release 'Without MSG I Am Nothing' as an actual single before the band imploded in a powder-puff of unfettered realism and cant; it is included here because it should be."

"I have more of a problem with the B-sides disc...some of the songs stunk the place out so much that I actually started crying at one point during mastering."

And, on the subject of haters who complain about the rarities that were or weren't included on "C-sides":

"The C-sides disc of demos, live songs and session tracks was a great idea, but you didn't have to compile it. You didn't have to shiftily sift through boxes upon boxes of unmarked CDRS, inlays helpfully marked with messages such as 'Song 3 has AIDS', or try to justify the time spent on it to yourself and the people who surround it. Certainly, I could have used those 6 or so hours more constructively, like for sleeping or petting a cat."

Petting a cat for six straight hours?!?! For the health of both Falkous's hands and his feline's fur, we hope that's a euphemism.

It's been almost two years since Mclusky's final album, The Difference Between Me and You Is That I'm Not on Fire. Since then, Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone have been working together in an as-yet-unnamed band, while bassist Jon Chapple has been busy with his new group, Shooting at Unarmed Men. Said unarmed men will shoot at England, Belgium, Holland, and France on tour in March, and their full-length debut is due out on Too Pure in April.

Duck!:

02-08 Bristol, England - The Croft
03-01 London, England - The Pleasure Unit
03-03 Cardiff, Wales - Clwb Ifor Bach
03-06 Liverpool, England - Korova Bar
03-07 Bristol, England - The Junction
03-08 Brighton, England - Free Butt
03-09 Oxford, England - Port Mahon
03-10 Manchester, England - Retro Bar
03-11 London, England - Umpire
03-15 Bissegem, Belgium - De Kreun
03-16 Amsterdam, Holland - Paradiso
03-17 Paris, France - La Fleche D'Or

I never listened to Mclusky before you guys all mentioned the name so many times.
Its one of the reasons I'm glad to still be around this forum. Also I can't take any more ultra slow music...

lol, that is a bargain!!!!

im not sure what to do now whether to go pre-order it now or wait for too pure's shop. I was leaning towards getting it from too pure incase they put in a nice too pure sampler as i like alot of there bands. Also i thought maybe mclusky might make more money from the cd's sold direct from too pure

I wouldn't risk it personally. You've got to have the three disc.
