En revanche, les membres de l'espace francophone condamnent unanimement et fermement toute tentative extérieure visant à s'immiscer dans la gestion de leur espace, qu'ils ne sauraient tolérer.
Le caractère injustifié et arbitraire de ces menaces provoquent la colère des membres de l'espace francophone. En effet, une image de jeune fille en maillot de bain avec une planche de surf ne peut être considérée comme obscène (sinon, on conseille au censeur de résilier son abonnement internet et de partir en Arabie Saoudite). Par ailleurs, l'image en question venait fort à propos, contrairement à 95% du charabia de ce forum. En réalité, nous avons légitimement peur qu'un certain nombre de dérives dangereuses du forum (pour lesquelles nous sommes, par ailleurs, prêts à vous aider) n'atteignent l'espace francophone.
Pire encore, nous trouvons les menaces - aussi intangibles qu'elles soient - de faire disparaître cet espace totalement scandaleuses et dignes de représailles.
A ce sujet, nous avertissons nos detracteurs que nous sommes prêts à nous battre.
Nous utiliserons TOUS les moyens à notre disposition pour prévenir toute atteinte qui riquerait d'être portée à l'espace francophone. Ces moyens pourraient s'exercer aussi bien sur la personnes proférant la menace, celle qui l'exécuterait ou son commanditaire, ainsi que l'ensemble du forum.
Nous annonçons solennellement par la présente la création de l'Armée Révolutionnaire Francophone ayant pour mission de défendre, par des moyens violents si on l'y oblige, l'intégrité et la souveraineté de l'espace francophone.
Vive la République.

Avec le temps qui se remet au froid et au gris, les décolletés se sont à nouveaux cachés.
j'aime bien les décolletés mais pas sur les femmes aux gros seins que je peux cotoyer (amies, collègues, clientes...), c'est toujours difficile de garder les yeux dans sa poche. |

I'll say it again. If you want to post the photo, post a LINK to it, not the photo itself. Some of us who work have bosses that may not take kindly to anything of the kind, as archaic and stupid as that might seem. We are not judging th quality of the photo, simply putting it within our paramaters. Post a link, warn us that there is a breast involved, and everything is kosher.
And please be nicer to our newest moderator. She is doing a fantastic job with something that is not easy to do - no one is trying to make enemies.

No, but i am at work, and if i were inclined to open a thread to say hi to my french speaking friends, and i see a nude photo, that is not what i am expecting. If i am looking at porn that is one thing, but i'm on a Frank Black message board. My boss would not care, but i'm sure someone's would.
This point is moot anyway. Just post a link. Why is that so much worse? i see that as a very fair and just compromise. Post a link, discuss the photo at length.

C'est vrai que ça m'énerve drôlement la pudibonderie anglo saxonne. à la limite je trouve plus grave de choper un emplyé qui passe sa jurnée à raconter des conneries sur un forum plutôt que de voir sur un écran un bout de téton.

If you want a link to that image, do so with a note on what you're linking to. Brian has said this as well. And it is a completely reasonable request to ask for you to not only respect him but also anyone who may check this in a place where nudity of any kind is not allowed.

Hey! I can understand that in other progressive and democratic countries, a REAL picture of a girl during demonstrations showing her breasts in order to picture a famous painting may be offensive to some narrow minded people (not talking about Dean, Tre, brian or any nice forum member).
If someone find a classic PAINTING offensive, it's an other story. it's not is it art or something? it's ART AND HISTORY.
I suggest in that case taht in every french international airport to make a warning: this country is rated X! |

I agree completely that it is not pornography, remig. Nor was what cassandra posted. That is not the point. I don't want, every time this happens, to have a debate on whether it crosses the line. Truth be told, if I had seen that initial image before Tre, I would've probably ignored it. But, she decided (rightly) that our rules state explicitly no nudity and I completely respect her decision and back it up. It makes sense, then, to place the limit somewhere where there is no nudity and no debate and no question about what's allowable and not. And to ask people to post links to these images rather than posting them directly is not so difficult, is it? Well?
It's not pornography, and this is no longer even about that, just respect. The lack of respect shown to Tre/Brian has infuriated me, though you would never know how much from what I'm writing.
Monsieur, you want to debate where we draw the line, then do so with remig here and we'll discuss it like adults. Post images or ridiculous posts about your Christian fundamentalist boss objecting to June 6 to somehow prove something and I'll probably ignore you.
We have to draw a line, I hope you can see that remig, and it's not where I'd personally put the line, but where it is least ambiguous. Perhaps that should change, but as present, it is as it is. How would you draw the line? Where? If someone can draw me a clear place where there is a divide further along the spectrum, I'll happily reconsider.

Thanks Frog, you're right that I don't hold these values as my own (I think somewhere on my personal website I have a photo of me in front of the Venus de Milo) but these are what has been set out here to ostensibly avoid this situation. It's worked for three years. If it needs a change, I'm willing to consider, but at the moment, I see it as the easiest way to enforce.
Thanks for your mature commentary, Monsieur. I am aware that I can do either of those things. That I don't should give you pause.
