The first that comes to my mind is "Don't Cry No Tears" by Neil Young with Crazy Horse on Zuma, very Catholiquesque.

Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing

"Calistan" is remarkably similar.

My mom made me show her proof that Gun Club's "Ghost on the Highway" wasn't a Frank song.

Someone made a thread about some Korn song with an intro that sounds like Ole Mulholland a while ago but I can't remember the title.

Ha! Painful to admit it, but yeah, some FB&TC songs do remind me of Dire Straits. Only much better. End Of Miles for instance.

There are a LOT of songs, especially by recent bands, with opening basslines that remind me of many of the tracks on Doolittle.

Or Bob Dylan wannabes! Pity Parsons didn't sing on that. I love that song and I can't hear any Frank in it. Closest I can come to is Low by Bowie, which, at a guess, Frank is a fan of.

In many countries, that comment is punishable by death. Although I actually quite like the Brothers In Arms album..

Jonny Polonsky sometimes sounds like Frank

some guy said that the unreleased song 'Broken Arrows' by Weezer was very Frank Black,
and it really is (btw it's way better than stupid songs like Beverly Hills or We are all on Drugs)

it occurs to me that:

- "the crystal lake" (ca. 1999) by grandaddy sounds
like a u.f.o.-era song (ca. 1993-1996) of frank black
- "one horse town" (ca.2002/3) by the thrills could be
an attempt to resemble fb and the c
- there are two groups of people: dire straits haters
and non dire straits haters

I suppose you couldn't say that Paul McCartney sounds like Frank Black, so I'll just say that Band On The Run could be an FB song in another time.

I remember reading an interview with Goldie in Big Issue (2 names anyone outside the UK is unlikely to know but..), and he said that Modest Mouse sounded like the Pixies would nowadays if they'd kept going. I was most suprised when i got round to hearing MM, Goldie is cleary out of his frucking tree.

Maybe I just didn't hear the right songs, then. Curious, I shall have to download.

honey, the same thing happened to me, but without goldie and the big issue. i think mine was tricky in uncut. anyways, they don't usually sound like the pixies, just this song and a couple of others off 'the lonesome crowded west' album. it's a really good album by the way.

it's not Brackish Girl. Sometimes you have to look a little deeper or just look up the board.
I know it's quite high up here but we have plenty of tissues for any potential nose bleeds.

to knock the forum for not providing entertainment in your moment of boredom i see as your (not yours, bg) problem not the forum's. Switch the machine off and come back tomorrow.
