Hey Denis, have fun tonight at the Stade de France with your two teams. May you see a spectacular 3-3 with lots of Zizou nostalgia/melancholy.
I will follow how Germany manages without Ballack (who has an injury at the ankle not in his groin!) against ... Luxenburg. Ah, the suspense! |

Heh, that, from someone who in the same post defended Greece's performance during the last european cup, can't be taken too seriously. Even without the smiley. And have you all seen the last WC final against Brazil? That was pretty attractive football from the german side. (Although not too successfull, so let's get back to efficient, shall we?)
quote: They'll probably get to the semi-final though, which I think would be a good tournament for them.
Sadly, I agree. But with the german squad nowadays you never know. They might end up in the finale like in 2002 (Turniermannschaft!) or not survive the group stage like two years ago (Rumpelfüßler). Depends on the momentum of the tournament, I guess. |

Pish!
Luxembourg used to be in a monetary alliance with Belgium. They didn't even have their own central bank! How rubbish is that?

Well, that's not exactly how it happened, but it was fun nonetheless. Not exactly pleased with the performance of either team, and Mexico still has that inferiority complex that makes them lose everytime in the 1/8ths, but I had a good night at the stadium.

England won 6-0 against Jamaica. Not bad. Crouch had a good game (despite the penalty miss). I'd still feel alot more confident if we had Rooney though. I think Crouch would work well as a 'plan-B' for England but due to Rooney's injury he's gonna be first choice.
Less than a week to go people. Are we all excited yet?

I just want to know who told Peter Crouch he could do the robot dance. Seems to me that if you're going to vow to do a certain celebration after every goal you score, you should at least make sure you can bloody do it right. |

Before the first game starts for the group stages (including the questions) and then before each round starts for the subsequent rounds.
So
6pm German time 9th June for the 1st round
5pm German time 24th June for 2nd round
5pm 30th June for 1/8
9pm 4th July for 1/4
9pm 8th July for 3rd/4th playoff
8pm 9th July for final
Pain is temporary, quitting is forever.

Oh ok. I wasn't down with the latest Beckham party news so I didn't know. I guess that makes it slightly more acceptable. |

I didn't go to the Beckham's house this year. I think my invitation must've been lost in the post.
I bet Peter Crouch thought he was really cool but when he saw people laughing at him he used the whole 'taking the piss out of himself' cover up. Sly guy.

No he really did dance like that at the party.
I think when you look the way he does, you learn to laugh at yourself.
Good on him.

To be honest anyone who laughs at Peter Crouch should take a look at what international footballers earn. Who's laughing at him now, eh? I wish I had his money!

I haven't been following this topic too closely but I came across this article and thought it was interesting
quote: Following warnings by extremist Islamic group al-Muhajiroun, in which the group said that the red cross in the England flag symbolizes the 'blood thirsty crusaders' and the occupation of Muslims, some of the largest companies in England have ordered their workers not to wave the flags. The flag has recently appeared in England on everything from bikinis to cars, and sold in endless versions in stores. But the Islamic protest forced some corporations, such as cable companies NTL, Heathrow airport in London, and even the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency to ban the flag in every form due to fears from reactions of Muslims.

I can understand banning club colours in some circumstances, but banning the national flag because it may upset some over-sensitive fundamentalists is ridiculous. Is it just because muslim countries are shit at football?
We should ask for all mention of Allah to be banned as it upsets us after the London Tube bombings. ffs.
tbh, it's just this kind of over-sensitivity and idiocy that gives racists fuel for their arguments.

ok, that's poor, not shit...although sadly better than Scotland. Catholic countries seem to be the best. But religion has nothing to do with football.

well, flags are pretty lame anyway guys... i agree it's silly to ban them because it might upset people... just ban them because people who carry them are normally nobs.
