Jeez what a game.

Gutted for the Germans, I put money on them winning the tournament before it kicked off.

Yeah bad luck Kwella. I'd rather be knocked out in the quarters than the semi finals ; )

Two great finishes to decide it though. I hope tomorrow's game is as good.

Great game, matches involving Italy I usually expect to be dull. Sorry for the Germans, at least they played well. Unlike some of the quarter final losers who played poor games and then went out kicking, stomping, whining and resigning.

FUCK THAT! FUCK THAT! FUCK THAT!

Just came home from where I saw the match and I would say I'm as dissapointed as I am drunk...
Another intensive match (at least for me...). And we were so close.

Ah well. Thanks everyone for the consolations.
Good night. I have to work reeeealy early tomorrow.

Whoever wins tomorow JUST HAS to win the final as well. Right now I can't stand the thought of Italy winning it all.

FUCK THAT!

Phew. Good thing I changed my mind and stayed until the end. I was about to turn off the tv, when I saw the Italian kicking the post twice.
The thought of a France-Italia final game is exciting. Go France!

Well done France. There is something so Zen about Zidane isn't there? He acts like it's meant to be.

Sunday should be great.

His first touch is class. The best I've ever seen and probably will ever see. Just as it seems he's lost possession, a little flick and it's laid off to a team mate. Or a little pirouette and he's gone. I really hope they beat the Italians, no offence to them.

To be honest I don't mind who wins on Sunday. I have nothing against either team and just hope to see a great game of football.

Im rooting for the Frogs. Im still a little bit pissed off by the Italians after that blatant dive against the Aussies in the last minute.

Yeah well done France... I'm really sorry and disappointed for Portugal, they had several chances to score, and they weren't able to make it. They played much better during the first half, and then the French played really well during the second one. I'm curious to know what would have happened if Carvalho hadn't make this offence... arfff... too bad, but one time again, well done the French... I'll have to support them against those damned Italians vultures. I think they really deserve to win the cup this time... but against Italia, you never know what will happen 'til the end.

I was born, and raised in France, and I'm French... but my blood is 100% Portuguese so it was really hard last night. I was very disappointed, because Portugal team is a great great team, no matter what people say. There's a big Portuguese community in France, that community is really well integrated in the French society, compared to other communities, but sometimes like this week I was really hoping we would win this match, just to show France arrogance that Portuguese are not just able to build walls or do housework (comments in French press were kind of insulting towards our team). I mean, although the Portuguese are really well integrated in the society, there's almost always a kind of contempt towards our people coming from the French like "oh those Portuguese, they're really nice people" with that kind of smile that makes you think you're just a part of an insignificant community just made to serve the distinguished "real" French.
That's strange, because "real" French have a lot more of respect for Italians or Spanish people, but well... Portugal is a great country, with a great history, and even if the French tend to forget it, I don't care, I've got nothing to prove and I feel proud of my blood and of my origins. What's particularly irritating is that now since five or six years a lot of rich and distinguished French go to Portugal for their holidays saying with their pedantic voice: "oh it's a really nice country", because it's becoming a fashion to go there for 3 or 4 days. That's the kind of thing that makes me wanna puke.

Anyway I like France as much as I like Portugal (like almost all the Portuguese living here), and I know we hace a great chance to live here for lots of reasons. But it would have been a great chance and a great revenge to win against France last night.

It was quite funny last night: my girlfriend was for France and I was for Portugal... but at the end I still have a team in final...

Thanks for the very informative answer, Michael. That cleared (and hopefully not steered)things up. I can concentrate much better on my work now...

I was rooting for the portugese yesterday, too. Ok, the diving was was getting on my nerves a bit and they were way too harmless in the penalty area.

Yeah you're right, the diving thing is a shame, especially because they don't need that. They play a great football and they surely don't need that to win a match.

Anyway, France-Italy should be a great final.

Sounds pretty boring to me, to be honest. 4-5-1 against 4-5-1. But who knows?

I'll cheer for France. Zidane deserves it, the way he played. And the italians don't deserve anything but to go back home with empty hands. To their brand new second and third league clubs...

That's for sure! speaking of diving and cheating, Italian players are the kings for those kind of things! They should have lost against Australia.

Its an expression - opening up a can of worms is to provoke debate about or expose a hitherto dormant potentially difficult situation.

Bye bye Portugal football team, you offered nothing positive in this World Cup (except winning me some money). Now crawl back into the hole from which you came (no offence Cassandra, I am sure you are not a cheat).

Well done France, I hope you win it now. ZZ is a footballing god. All hail ZZ!
