Not to be chauvinist or anything, but France played ten times better than Brazil tonight. And we didn't even cheat!

On a side note, celebrating the victory when you're wife is pregnant with twins is tough. We've been sitting at home and trying to keep as calm as possible. "yeah... goal."

France was really impresive tonight. It's about time Portugal beats the french, but considering tonight's performances from both teams... |

I hope Portugal lose in shame and humiliation. How's that for a show of solidarity with the Frenchies round here?

it's tough on the english considering they played their best football of the entire tournament with only 10 men and without their supposed saviour. but rooney is a retard. i know he's only 19 (isn't he?) but he really needs to sort his shit out.
odd how portugal never even looked like scoring a goal - it gave me the impression that they were simply playing for the shoot-out cause they know ricardo is absolutely brilliant....which he was. 3 saves...sure portugal missed 2 as well, but both portugals misses were not saves....
france - germany final.
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

I agree, France vs. Germany in the final and... Germany to win? Dare I say it? They've played the best of all the teams left in from the very beginning.

England and their cheating thing again!!!! I referred to this before. Rooney stamped on some-one's balls (if that's not cheating, i don't know what is)... Fouling people is also cheating (the english seem to forget this)...
4-5-1, do work when you have the correct players to do it, see France. You have to be able to pass the ball and be patient (unfortuantely, thats not the english style).
Go on France... Zidane was amazing (i must admit, i would nearly have dropped him after the performance against Spain in which Henry and Viera played great without him..) but Zidane again showed he is a legend... One of the greats, some of his touches, especially knocking over a couple of brazilian heads and collecting it the other side.... pure trust in the ball and his ability....
i could go on |

ZZ did play against Spain, it's the match against Togo that he missed. I suppose that's what you meant. And yeah, he was stunning against Brazil. Everyone played great actually except Malouda and Wiltord.

I would say during this world cup the french team turned out to be what we call a Turniermannschaft in german. Take this as a compliment. |

Just reading through some of the papers this morning and its pissing me off how most people are trying to shy away from laying any blame at Fatlads door. Yes, Ronaldo is a scummy bastard who tried to get Rooney carded BUT Rooney is the one who cant control his fucking temper. Rooneys push was no better or worse than Beckhams petulant kick on Simeone in 98 and he was fucking vilified when he got back to this country. Booed off the park at every ground he visited. But everyone seems content to overlook Rooneys misdemeanour and continue to slap off onto his fat head, instead blaming a convenient scapegoat. YES Ronaldo is a cunt but so is Rooney
And dont anyone give me that crap about if he controlled his temper he'd lose his competitive edge yadda yadda yadda ad nauseum

who cares, guy in a rover. England did'nt even deserve a quarter final place. They were crap throughout the tournament. simple. It was'nt that ye were cheated out of it. Football, again, has won the day. |

I think you missed the point of what I was trying to say. I never said we were 'cheated out of it'. I was merely saying that Rooney should be held accountable for his actions. Yes we were crap, I never said we weren't. I don't know what you mean by England didn't 'deserve' a quarter final place. They deserved it just as much as anyone, they played crap but won. Football won the day as you say.

Nope, unfortunately a competition to decide which is the best team in the worlds favourite sport is still being played out, much to the delight of millions across the world. Much to the dismay of yanks, who have invented their own, inferior sports to keep themselves amused.

The referee claims he was 100% sure that Rooney stamped on Carvalho on purpose. Liar. It's impossible to be 100% sure after many replays so at the time it was impossible.
Rooney has a temper, wow! We'll just have to get used to it. Maradonna was a fucking idiot, he also happened to be the greatest footballer of all time.
NEWS FLASH - Footballers are thick!
England weren't the best team in Germany so I guess you could say we deserved it. It's hard to say who has been the best team overall. Probably the Germans. Good luck to them (though I hope France do it 'cos I had some money on them each way at the start of the tournament). I normally wish the best to the team that knocks my team out, 'cos if nothing else, it makes us look slightly better. However, I strongly suspect it was a team plan to cash in on Rooney's stupidity (given that Ronaldo winked at the bench for one), and I don't like that in the game, so I can't wish them the best. Particularly Ronaldo, his head-butt (whether contact was made or not), was inexcusable. I hope Fergie gets rid so we can buy Lennon (haha, and maybe Hargreaves now).
Anyway, well done to France for beating Brazil, I had a feeling they would.

ok, the prediction competition......as it stands after the quarters.
toeknee 107
kelladwella 105
Pixiestu 102
llamadance 93
Vilainde 75
Cheeseman 65
remig 10
Pretty close for the top three, and noone has a chance of guessing the winners now. Only Denis has an active top goalscorer (Henry) and Pixiestu & toeknee have Ronaldo still leading.
Fixtures for the Semi's
Germany vs Italy (Tues 4/7) how many different goalscorers will there be?
Portugal vs France (Wed 5/7) What percentage possession will Portugal have (+/-1)?

Isn't Klose ahead or level with Ronaldo? Anyway, these are what the results will be, you can put your maison on it.

But toeknee, isn't the beauty of the k.o.-rounds that you can be 100% sure there will be at least one goal in every match? |

Uh, yeah, my mistake over Ronaldo. I can hardly decide between Italy & Germany. Such a tough call. I almost hope Germany win as I think it would make for an amazing final with (hopefully) France.
