the godfather has returned. very glad to be in on this one. i think we should do mp3 for the ftp. i'm not concerned with the loss in quality for these things. and seeing as most of my music is in mp3 format cause i didn't move all my cd's with me, i'd much rather have it that way (cause i wouldn't have to let you all know which are mp3 and which are not, and perhaps even leave out the mp3's ones if someone was worried about it - which would seriously affect my mix - in other words - make it SUCK) but if people are anstey that, then we could do FLAC or something, but thats a lot of bother for just comps.
at present i've got 2 options going. their working titles are: Durty McNastie & A Feeling

Glad you're in Benji. All I listen to, it's all research these days. Plotting and planning, pitting my strategy. Picking apart my music collection.

DONE! (I love a dare -- and a weekend of new music!)
yousendit.com should be emailing each of you guys an alert letting you know to download my mix.
While I appreciate OBW's efforts, I sent my mix this way because I didn't want to deal with installing FTP software.
Let me know if for some reason you don't get the email I sent each of you or the email that each of you should be getting from yousendit.com

sorry OBW, but i will be FTPing this mix if you don't mind, because yousendit is quite unreliable for those without really good internet connections. FTPs are much more reliable.

Mikey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's an alternate version, though. Plus, he messes up the lyrics. Oh, Mikey, I'm sorry.

Thanks! I'm attempting it, but with my blazing internet connection I may have to figure out something else (Brian and the batch mail thing). Let's see...18 more hours of downloading at the current rate!! I really just need to spring for a real internet connection.

I didn't get any email, but I downloaded it all without many problems by FTP. For some reason I couldn't get the notes for the mix to download and I can't get the itunes song to work. But, I liked the mix. Are we doing reviews? |

yes i was able to successfully log into the FTP! very cool. i'm dowloading kathryn's tunes as i type. however, it seems that the swap notes are not making it through.
and i noticed headlights is in the mix. WTF!! that was on my breakfast with the fu's mix that i made 2 weeks ago. no shit! that throws everything off. but i will be a good sport and substitute headlights with another tune from an artist from quebec. right now i'm thinking celine dion.

I got the notes/songs with no problem.
Listening now kiki. Enjoying.
I've never done these mixes before, and I was wondering. When I create my mix, is there a way that it will retain its song order when it is imported to iTunes? With Kathryn's, the mix reverted to alphabetical order. I was able to amend this with her notes, but I'd rather find a way to avoid this when I create mine. Any insight?

I can email everybody the notes.
Fu: We don't have no stinkin' Francophone-artist content requirements like in Quebec. But if you're gonna go Canadian, may I humbly suggest Gordie and the boys from scenic Kingston? Fully completely.

i'm not too sure. i guess you could remedy the problem by making the tracks named 1 - Blah Blah, 2 - Sleep, 3 - Revolver

Is this a problem that hasn't been addressed to this point? Or has everyone just had to re-number the mixes?

Didn't get the yousendit email but I downloaded it from the FTP. Now what do I use to read m4a and m4p files? Winamp won't read them and it annoys me.

you'll need an m4a codec for winamp to hear the m4a file. I couldn't open/unprotect the m4p file, so found an mp3 of the song on the web.

I haven't had any problems playing the kathryn's tracks using iTunes.
Maybe we should try to stick with plain old mp3 files.
