LOL, that's becuase you WERE seeing something different than the rest of the audience.
(do you like Chinatown?)
"She's my sister...(slap)...she's my daughter...(slap)...she's my sister AND my daughter!"
"Don't eat the Venetian blinds, Curly, I just had 'em installed on Wednesday."
"Bad for the glass!"
"Mr. Gitts..." "That's Gittis."
"You know what happens to sneaky fellows, kittycat? They lose their noses."
"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."
Does that answer your question? One of my favorite goddamn movies of all time. On New Years Eve of 1989 I spent all night (from 1AM to 7AM watching it played over and over in a movie theater by myself in Pasadena, CA (eve of Rose Parade) while my friends got drunk and acted like hooligans outside on the streets. However, The Two Jakes left MUCH to be desired.

And what about: "Are you alone, Mr Gittes?" " Isn't everybody?"

Was the other factor the title's similarity to a certain Frank Black song?

There's also a Problem Child 3 if you can fathom that! Luckily it was made for cable...I think it was USA or maybe TBS, I can't recall...luckily we didn't have to pay to see that one. I saw Problem Child at the theatre, and it should have made my list, but alas, until the memory of it's sequel was stirred up by Homers Pet Monkey, I had it locked away...way far away...deep in the recess of my brain. Oh, Ritter! How could you?!?!

ANCHORMAN was a little disappointing but redeemed by death-by-javelin-spearing scene |

Anchorman? What was wrong with that movie? Sure, it didn't all work, but the fight scene, Steve Carell, and the ending were all worthwhile. The 'sex' scene was pretty good as well.
I can't believe that's the worst movie you've ever seen? Have you never seen a Police Academy, talking baby, or Whoopi Goldberg movie? |

I cannot understand the Anchorman hatred that's so prevalent here. Maybe it's because I was'nt expecting much from it, but I found it hilarious. |

I loved Anchorman. Not a classic by any means, but certainly not even in the same zip code of badness as any Whoopi Goldberg film I've seen. |

I thought Anchorman was amusing...but the deleted stuff and extras were worth the rental alone. Look for "The skeleton took a shower...the skeleton ran out of shampoo while taking a shower...the skeleton...the human torch couldn't get a loan...the human torch couldn't get a bank loan" tongue-twister bit in the outtakes. Man oh man, I was rolling on the floor in tears for 15 minutes!

i didn't hate it. being a Will Ferrell fan though, i had my hopes set a little high i guess. i still think the crowning achievement of his career (thus far) was his role in ZOOLANDER.. |

He's pretty good in Dick - the mildly amusing story of two teenage girls being Deep Throat in the Watergate scandal.
For me his best has been non-flim roles, like as GWB on Saturday Night Live or his many appearance on Conan. |

I saw Anchorman in the theater and didn't care for it much. But after repeated viewings on HBO I found it fucking hilarious. The flute scene is great, and many memorable quotes,"The only way to score a classy lady fellas, is to give her two tickets to the gun show." |

I started to watch Hell In Law on the plane back from Cyprus. I got 20 whole minutes in (spent turning to my mate and pissing my sides constantly) before deciding to put my iriver back on.
Absolute shite.

What? Hot Shots part deux is one of my fave comedies ever!
The worst movie I ever paid to see is without contest The Patriot, starring the despicable Mel Gibson. Followed closely by Cube.
