I walked out on Dracula Dead and Loving It, but not because I found it unfunny. It terrified me too much.

Hey, I was no older than six or seven.

I walked out on Eight Crazy Nights. That was truly an awful film.

I liked A Tale Of Two Sisters. One of the better Tartan asian films.

Vibes starring Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum

Opening day and my friends and I were the only ones there.

Cyndi Lauper on the big screen. What could be better than that?

...so did L.A. Confidential. What a crappy movie. Sickeningly stupid...along the lines of Mulholland Falls with Nolte.

Brian, seriously now, that was a good film and one in which Russel Crow actually looked cute.
Surely that counts for something?

Oh but LL looked fine in the video for the song he cut for the movie. You know, the video where he turned into a shark? That was so cool.

I saw L.A. Confidential at a sneak preview and was excited...totally looking forwad to it! But from the start I had a problem with it. Nothing seemed authentic to me...the acting, the period piece quality seemed shoddy to me, the stilted dialogue...and whenever there's an Irish police chief involved, you know he's gonna turn out to be crooked. DeVito made me nauseaus, Spacey was Shatnerish (I love Shatner, but not Spacey's Shatnerishness), both Aussies were...well...out of place, Basinger is ALWAYS a bore...the only interesting character that was even somewhat connectable was David Straithern (sp?). Just silly to me. The most horrifying thing was, because the audience was so involved...laughing, gasping, responding...I felt like I must have been seeing something different than the rest of the audience. I just flat out hated it.

"You know what happens to sneaky fellows, kittycat? They lose their noses."

"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."

Does that answer your question? One of my favorite goddamn movies of all time. On New Years Eve of 1989 I spent all night (from 1AM to 7AM watching it played over and over in a movie theater by myself in Pasadena, CA (eve of Rose Parade) while my friends got drunk and acted like hooligans outside on the streets. However, The Two Jakes left MUCH to be desired.

And let's face it, LA Confidential is heavily 'influenced' by it. :)
