I really don't know how Electric Version is rated by the world in general. I think the main thing that I found a bit disappointing about it was that all the songs were quite similar. I mean, I liked all of them, but it was sometimes hard to differentiate between one and another, and I like variety. Don't get me wrong, though. I still think it's a great album. It's just not AS great as the other two.

It's all over for this band. Today at the hairdresser's I read a rave review of Twin Cinema in People magazine. That, people, is the kiss of death.

I really can't understand why People even reviews albums. Still, I think TMBG got a write-up in People based on their demo tape back in 1985 or so, and they're still doing all right. So I wouldn't worry unduly.

FUCK!! the np's were on conan last night. when i got home last night at 11:00 i was so tired i started falling asleep. so i set the vcr and then this morning i hit play and see the neville brothers performing. i'm like what kind of sick joke is this? i ended up recording dave letterman instead of conan. FUCK!
anyone see it?

I finally picked it up yesterday (on vinyl of course) and was unbelievfably dissapointed after first listen. Hopefully it was just because it was my first listen, but it didn't seem like something I'll really be able to get into.

I like it. I think you need to listen to it a few times, then get drunk and listen to it and see what you think. I always appreciate music a little more when I get drunk, which admittedly is not very often anymore. Still it worked one night last month when I pulled out Twin Cinema after a few drinks.

it's probably my least favorite, but there are still some great songs. seeing them perform them live doesn't hurt either.
i think Bleeding Heart Show is among their best songs.. i really like Streets Of Fire too. and Twin Cinema |

| Give it a few listens. It's not as immediately catchy as some of their other stuff, but there's greatness there. Sing Me Spanish Techno is an awesome pop song. Twin Cinema too. But I really like Three or Four and Jackie, Dressed in Cobras a lot too. But none of the songs jump out and say "listen to this awesome hook" the way Letter From an Occupant does... |

"Sing Me Spanish Techno," "Streets Of Fire," and "Jackie, Dressed In Cobras" are probably my three favorites. I don't think any of the songs are bad, but it's true that most of them don't jump out at you in the way of some of their earlier songs.
